Chris Paul to the Lakers
:)

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7333285/los-angeles-lakers-agree-trade-pau-gasol-lamar-odom-chris-paul-sources-say

The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to surrender Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom in a trade for New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul, sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

Sources close to the process tell Stein that the Houston Rockets remain part of the talks and are trying to complete a deal that would send Gasol to Houston and the Rockets' Luis Scola, Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic to New Orleans, along with Odom.

In Paul, the Lakers would be getting an All-Star and U.S. Olympic Team member who has averaged 37.1 minutes, 18.7 points and 9.9 assists a game in his six seasons.

Paul can opt out of his current contract with New Orleans after this season, and the Hornets have been fielding trade offers in an effort to acquire new players for the star guard rather than letting him walk in free agency.

6. Big Mistake
He's leaving New Orleans either way. So, now the small market owners have punished a small market team that was trying to get something instead of nothing.

Really dumb.

7. Well, if rumors can be believed, the Hornets could have Rondo who

is a hell of a lot better than Odom. And rumors also have the Celtics giving up Jeff Green and Glen Davis along with 2 number 1's. Who would get all this has never been mentioned but 4 teams were all mentioned in the trade, Celtics, Hornets, Rockets, and Warriors. The Odom deal stunk to high heaven.

10. See I Didn't Think So
They got 4 players, including a tough guy in Scola. And, the NBA has painted itself into a corner, because they won't be able to justify any trade to any other big city team. If they blocked the Lakers, they have to block the Bulls, or Nets, or Knicks, or Clippers, or Rockets, or Sixers, etc.

We disagree on whether the original deal was good or bad. But, the NBA still screwed up.

11. The NBA Has Too Many Teams
The stars of the league are going to wind up in the big markets because the stars can make more money off the court if they're in a big market. A team like Toronto has no hope of ever keeping a star nor attracting one through FA.

5. Apparently the owners killed the deal?
That probably makes it easier for the Lakers to get Dwight Howard though.

8. Teams are back in talks according to some sports writers I follow on twitter

We'll see what happens. The initial trade wasn't bad at all for New Orleans and the Lakers gave up a lot. It also benefited Houston tremendously because they would get Gasol.

It seems like David Stern just doesn't want Chris Paul to play in LA for whatever reason. Anywhere but LA I guess.

9. I think it was a bad trade for LA
which is why Stern killed it.
