These two dudes had no idea what they were about to face.

1. That's amazing
I'm going to try and start some Krav Maga next school year myself. If nothing else I hear it's a great workout that should supplement my regular trips to the gym nicely.

2. Strange film.
It's a strange world out there. I am happy that my boys know how to defend themselves. Last year, I had a call from some parents of a female student at the college my younger son attends. They wanted to thank me for something my son did. Their daughter's boyfriend was slapping her around outside their dorm one evening. A couple other guys stood and watched. My son told the guy he needed to stop, or my son would stop him.

As it turned out, the two fellow spectators were the boyfriend's buddies. It looked like it would become 3 against 1. My son was able to read the situation correctly, and did what he needed to. Word spreads, and it wasn't just those parents who called me who heard that my boy is perhaps the last guy on that campus to start a fight with.

3. Slapping a girl around
How incredibly manly! In the same league with deserting the military to avoid a drug test. Totally manly (and patriotic.)

4. I asked my
son about it afterwards. I am always cautious these days, because of how often people have knives and guns. And I said that he needed to be careful, because 3 against 1 can be dangerous. He said the boyfriend had not only slapped the young lady, he scratched her. Yes: scratched her. He said there was no way he would be worried about a guy who slaps and scratches a female.

5. The guy in that clip I posted showed excellent boxing skills
and that's what happens when you tangle with a trained boxer.

7. I tell my boys
that most guys who fight flail their arms in uncontrolled fury. A trained boxer does not and can easily whip a guy who fights like that. I showed my boys the video and they were in awe.

There's one part in the clip where the dude goes for the guy on the left with a fake shot to the belly and then whap, upside the head. That was sweet. Straight controlled shots compared to uncontrolled hay makers---you'll win every time.

8. A good body punch
will often end a fight. Just life up a bit under the other fellow's ribs. It's mighty hard to defend yourself if the wind is knocked out of you.

10. yeah, I am dating a boxer...
sometimes she scares the living daylights out of me. I may outweigh her by 60 pounds, and I am in pretty good shape, but I know she can take me down with one hand tied behind her back.

kinda hot to watch her in Golden Gloves, though...
