I never thought I'd see that. I enjoy the program, a golf version of reality TV, but the players are flawed and limited by definition. None of the men have even come close to this type of finish, although Kristy McPherson had plenty of LPGA Top 10s this season.

Today at Disney World, Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey was playing so phenomenally it was capturing my attention, away the early NFL games. He shot a 64, including clutch birdies on the final two holes, and lost by 1 shot to Davis Love -25 to -24.

Love had to make two great par saves on 17 and 18, up and down from 75 yards on 17 after driving near the water, and a sand save from deep in the bunker on 18.

Nick Faldo was befuddled by Gainey's style all day:

* "You look at the posture, the grip, the way he gouges at it, and you think no way, then the ball ends up nestled to the hole."

* On Gainey's ultra quick tempo: "He's like Nicky Price on steroids."

Adding to the oddity: Gainey's caddy this week was another celebrated Big Break product, loud mouth Don "Pull the Tape Tight!" Donatello.

1. Good for him
I don't think he made enough for the top 125 though. Donatello--the most annoying and stupid contestant until this year. It is now the guy who was a long drive champion.

2. You're talking about David Mobley
Agreed, he surpasses them all in jerk status. Donatello and even Lori from Ka'anapali had some wink and a nod whimsical characteristics, but Mobley is sarcastically digging even his own teammate, Sally Dee. I have a feeling they will be eliminated soon. This site is interesting, a woman from Vancouver who interviews many of the contestants after each week's show. David and Sally snipe at each other in the interviews from last week: http://www.golfgal-blog.com/

It cracked me up yesterday when Donatello was signing autographs alongside Gainey after the round. He's probably the most famous Big Breaker ever. Supposedly he's one of the best caddies out there, particularly in terms of reading greens.

Yeah, I think Gainey only moved up to 148 on the money list. That enables him to bypass 2nd round of Q School this week, and provides some status for 2009 along with unlimited opportunity for sponsor exemptions, but he'll have to succeed at December Q School finals to retain full status.

This time I'm rooting for Hugo and Camila. She is solid and fine. :loveya:
