Come on folks. You take two years off to figure out how to lose more money, and yet no-one is still interested. You main channel is VS? :wtf:

FFS, even the Arena League is more watched!

Second, once it's in your blood, it's a magnificent game.

GOOD OLD HOCKEY GAME
Stompin' Tom Connors

Hello out there, were on the air
it's hockey night tonight!
The tension grows,
the whistle blows,
and the puck goes down the ice.
The goalie jumps,
and and the players bump,
and the fans all go insane.
Someone roars:
"Bobby Scores!"
At the good old hockey game!

(chorus)
Oh!
The good old hockey game!
Its the best game you can name!
And the best game you can name,
is the good old hockey game!

Second Period.
Where players dash,
with skates a-flash,
the home team trails behind.
But they grab the puck,
and go bursting up,
and their down across the line.
They storm the crease,
like bumblebees,
and they travel like a burning flame.
We see them slide the puck inside,
its a one one hockey game!

(chorus)
Oh!
The good old hockey game!
Its the best game you can name!
And the best game you can name,
is the good old hockey game!

Third Period.
Last game in the play-offs too.
Oh take me where, the hockey players,
face off down the rink,
And the Stanley Cup,
is all filled up,
for the champs who win the drink!
Now the final flick,
of a hockey stick,
and a one gigantic scream:
"THE PUCK IS IN! THE HOME TEAM WINS!"
At the good ol hockey game

(chorus repeat 3 times)
OH!
The good old hockey game!
Its the best game you can name!
And the best game you can name,
is the good old hockey game!

Popularity doesn't equal greatness else we'd be declaring the Jonas Brothers to be in the same league as Led Zeppelin. This is an idiotic post.

11. Well, all I can say is you're missing out.
I don't care about the NHL's ratings. That's an issue for the NHL to deal with. I just find it humorous that the people that talk about nobody watching hockey are the ones that don't care about it anyway. BTW, the AFL took this year off (and who knows if they're even coming back), so you can't really say they're more watched.

15. That could be true.
The NHL's ratings are on par with the Professional Bowling League (no joke).

Which of course makes me happy. It's no coincidence that hockey started to suck as soon as they expanded to areas that don't give a shit about hockey and rarely even see snow. The league got watered down even more, and the lack of talent led to tons of clutching and grabbing that made the game boring even for me. The rule changes a few years back made the game much, much better, and the clutching and holding stuff is immediately called for a penalty now, allowing the true skill players like Crosby and Ovechkin to shine.

Soccer is everywhere. I still watch games on the spanish channel sometimes. They show about 5 games per week it seems. It's on all the time.

16. Alot of the problem has to do with TV coverage.
Edited on Wed Apr-29-09 02:09 PM by mmonk
It needs a network to step up to the plate instead of regional TV up to playoff time. Hockey is usually popular in the city it is played but generally not followed outside those cities in the US. Let's face it, in the US, one could probably find a baseball, basketball, or football game using a sun dial.

23. I wouldn't even live where I couldn't get Canadian TV
I feel bad for people who don't "get" hockey.

There are some fine playoff matchups this year. And you don't have to worry about the officials throwing the games, either.

We have four choices to watch hockey - Canadian, VS, the occasional NBC game, and the beloved Center Ice package on cable.

channel 215 on DirecTV, not sure where it's offered on other services. It's great.. Hockey Night in Canada, classic games and series, nightly highlights of all the games and much more.

I don't think we get it unless we subscribe. I could be wrong, though. Comcast has very mysterious ways. I do watch that channel a lot.

Car racing is boring and monotonous. Might as well watch paint dry. It's the same experience. Plus the racers are 99% freeper rednecks. Any self-respecting Duer should boycott Nascar out of general principle.
