***Washington DC Council Approves Same-Sex Marriage Bill!!!***

WHOO HOO!!! Washington DC will recognize out-of-district same-sex marriages.

AP
Published: May 5, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) - After an emotional debate, the D.C. Council has given final approval to legislation that recognizes same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions.
Tuesday’s vote is considered the first step toward eventually allowing gay marriages to be performed in Washington.
The issue now goes before Congress, which has final say over the city’s laws.
The vote was 12-to-1, with former Mayor Marion Barry casting the lone opposing vote. He called it an “agonizing and difficult decision” that he made after prayer and consulting with the religious community.

1. Which is pretty decent of them since we don't recognize their right to representation in Congress
Geez, give that lone representative voting rights finally will ya. Hell didn't we say we'd give Utah another rep to counter the vote?

6. He's losing his marbles
He has long claimed his support for marriage equality. And I mean long. He was campaigning for mayor in the gay and lesbian bars and clubs way back in the 1970s. He was always our friend and advocate. He signed on to the marriage amendment in the City Council in December. Now he claims he didn't sign, at least that's what he told a member of the DC Gertrude Stein Club who confronted him about this sudden about face.

His brain's fried; it's now only too clear if it wasn't before. The voters in Ward 8 in Washington, DC, need to wake up and vote him out the next time.

7. If they're stupid enough to waste the political capital they currently have, they will.
And there may just be enough stupid in congress to do that.

Better, of course, that they just leave it be...

8. It won't happen

Can you really see a bill overturning the decision passing both houses AND President Obama signing it? Congress will just take no action on it, and it'll become law automatically.
