2. The Bourbon Orleans
On the corner of Bourbon and Orleans, about 10 bars within half a block.
Its on the 700 block of Bourbon, more safer then places closer to Canal Street. Just a block from Jax Square, three blocks to the river. There are two big gay bars on the corner of Bourbon and St Ann which is the next block up from Orleans. Ya can't get any closer. And the balcony of the tropical isle is outstanding.

9. Has a gay bar there too (Napoleon's Itch).
It is also the hub for all the gay bars, the Pub, Oz, Cafe Lafitte in Exile, the 700 Club, and Goodfriends. Napoleon's Itch also has the best VJ on Bourbon (). It is also the only non-smoking bar on Bourbon.

4. Info
Bourbon Orleans is nice. I've always wanted to stay at the Cornstalk Inn. I believe it's
a B&B that caters to gay people. Also, Rue Royal Inn is close to the bars.

I'm just across the state line in Mississippi. Hopefully Joey will be so kind to acknowledge your existence. He's usually only an asshole in the sports forum.

The Cornstalk Inn is finally reopened. It was undergoing renovation. I haven't seen the new layout, but I hear it is really nice.

8. Yo Joey - HI This! (grabbing crotch)
People are trying to help you out here.

What are you doing? Celebrating the fact that bellicheat has recent video of the Bills? The Patriots are pathetic cheaters and you know it. Bring billichick with you to NOLA, he can be himself, the fucking devil incarnate. Introduce him to Marie Lavioux.

17. The Frenchman is also a very nice place near by.
Good prices as well. It's a bed and breakfast in the Marigny, well within walking distance to the bars and clubs in a very nice and historical neighborhood. Great rooms, private, gated parking that is complimentary to guests. Very nice atmosphere, and great cash savings compared to the ones that are actually in the French Quarter.

20. I spoke with the owner of the bar in the BO hotel.
Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 04:12 PM by Behind the Aegis
He said if enough people are coming in and staying at the hotel, he would work to get a discount like he did for Southern Decadence (15% off room). If you know more people (or more people here are coming to NOLA), let me know so I can put you in contact with him.

it's kind of fun; some of the the rooms are very gothic Nawlins, and a nice courtyard.

I'm reading the reviews - it's looking mixed these days. Best thing is if you set a rez for this, call them up and say you're concerned about the reviews (and mention the site and details); they'll likely upgrade you at no extra cost.

It was clean and pleasant when we stayed there, although my partner and I even streaked through the courtyard on a dare one late inebriated evening. Note to self, if racing naked to your room at umpteen in the morning, don't take the slippery stairs unless you want landing marks on your butt.

28. My partner has visit NOLA, He use to live in Baton Rouges
and had a bf from there. He suggests if you get a car keep it in the hotel off street parking.
Suggest Holiday in French Quarter, JW Marriott off of Canal close to the quarter.
They should also have hotel shuttle that will pick you up at the airport.
You can wall straight Bourbon or Royal st to the quarter, its not far.

He says you don't want to stay right in the quarter as its very expensive.
You can google map and zoom in on the quarter and google will aslo give you suggested hotels..don't for get to ask for any discounts a lot of times they will have unadvertised.
Most all the gay bars are on St Anne..he thinks. I m trying to take dictation.
Cafe Du Monde is also on St Anne by the end of the warf,
and get a chicory coffee and some beignet for us..I have not been there but he's been there many times. I used to order the coffee for home brewing it' wonderful but have not had the funds to buy it lately. Some supermarkets carry Community Coffee that is the brand name it is really good.
Hope this helps. Stay out of the alleys.

It is St. Anne...where all the gay bars are. Someone else posted that. I couldn't recall the name. And your partner is right about the costs...b&bs are going for about $300 a night in the Quarter!

30. Have a great time!
I went to that party every year for years and it is a huge blast. I was one of the hosts for several years, so I got to escape for awhile in host lounge - get some better drinks, eat something and take a deep breath.

Then back downstairs. The costumes, the energy, the entertainment, the dancing. Wow!

And costumes are required and often worked on all year.

You have made me very nostalgic for NOLA. Say hi to all my pals at OZ and Parade!

:hi:

31. One more thing. Don't be afraid to stay outside the Quarter.
The cabbies know what's up that night and are very accommodating. Looks like the big party on Saturday night is on the West Bank, so you are going to have to cab it anyway. I wouldn't necessarily stay on the West Bank, but I didn't know if you knew that this is nowhere near the bars.

There are a couple of cheaper hotels on St. Charles Avenue and a lot of B & B's uptown.

32. OK, I am not usually this talkative, but I now see that Mardi Gras World has moved
to the East Bank. But it still quite a ways from the Quarter and not really walkable.

34. OK, I was just trying to make sure you know that the big costume party is not
in the quarter. And participants generally do not wear their costumes to the bars.

There may be a shuttle service. I will check. I am working on events for the bar in the BO hotel, so I can double check on the other event.
