We were set up by gay lobby, claim Christian B&B couple who refused two homosexual men a room

A Christian couple who refused to allow two gay partners to share a room at their hotel feared they were being ‘set up’ to trigger a groundbreaking legal case, a court heard yesterday.

Peter and Hazelmary Bull refused to let civil partners Martyn Hall and Steven Preddy use a double bed because they did not want to offer the opportunity for any non-married couples to have sex under their roof, it was said.

The Bulls are being sued for discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation, in a landmark case being paid for by the taxpayer-funded Equality and Human Rights Commission.

The hoteliers’ policy allows only married heterosexual couples to share rooms at their £80-a-night seaside property in Cornwall.

Yesterday a court heard how Mr Hall and Mr Preddy booked two nights in a double room at the Chymorvah Private Hotel in Marazion near Penzance.

The hotel’s sleeping restrictions are mentioned in one section of its website, but Mr Preddy said he was not aware of them.

The court heard that Mrs Bull, 66, took the telephone booking but forgot to go through the ‘process’ of ascertaining whether the reservation was for a married couple.

4. "Standing Area" and Breakfast
How about taking the bed out entirely and calling it a "standing area and breakfast"?

It would be more honest.

Public accommodations must "accommodate". Maybe better to close up shop?

6. That's the first thing that pops into hetero minds!
They're gay (sex). They must be sodomizing each other at every opportunity. (I WISH!) hehe

7. And hotels should care who rents from them why?
I can't believe they didn't get taken to court for such a blatantly bigoted and discriminatory policy sooner. There is no right to discriminate against others.

Seriously, unless someone who wants to rent a room at your hotel either has a history of not paying the bill, or destroying hotel property, why should the hotel care?
