A pyrrhic victory for Starchild IMO
Court upholds teen's right to forego chemotherapy.

My greater concern is that, if he recovers (as I hope he does), he will give credit to the Hoxsey herbal method rather than to the conventional non-chemo treatments he'll still be undertaking.

I wish the young man well, of course, but I don't hold out great hope for his recovery if he puts undue faith in "traditional" remedies.

1. "Tradionally", people with this disease die. It's the modern treatments
that can save them.

He's still undergoing some of the modern treatments, just not the chemotherapy.

remains to be seen how this will end up.

2. I've known a number of people who've beaten it
I hope that he does the same, but I hope even more strongly that he and his family give credit where it's due, rather than simply attributing a recovery to alternative measures.

3. The herbalism won't do a thing
but give him a minor lift from the placebo effect.

Once in a blue moon a cancer will spontaneously disappear. It happens so rarely that we call it a miracle. There is no way we know of to predict it or what causes it. We just know that herbalism won't cause it.

I'm torn on this one. The kid could have a chance at a longer lifespan with chemo, or he could have his remaining year ruined by its side effects.

He's probably old enough and educated enough to call this one for himself. I just hope he's not putting a lot of false hope into the woo woo stuff.
