Have you ever filed a complaint against your doctor?
I thought he was a nice guy but, in my opinion, he took advantage of me on my last visit and did an unnecessary procedure that he billed as "surgery" for a total of $675!!! I just called Blue Cross Blue Shield to get a complaint started. I'm nervous and hope I'm doing the right thing.

3. Don't you think it would be better to complain to the doctor's office first?

And/or dispute it through insurance, if applicable.

5. I do feel he was wrong but it's weird that I don't necessarily

want him to get in trouble or get him into bad standing with BCBS (even though he might deserve it). I just want my situation resolved so that's where the nervousness comes in.

2. I assume you don't ever want to go back to him.
Did you try complaining to his office first?

4. This is sort of new to me
I didn't complain to them first. I was going to just pay the bill but after I saw the way he put the claim in--it's like he knew that I would have to come out of pocket for the whole thing and he didn't care. The only thing I regret is not having had a new doctor already in place and having my records faxed over to the new doctor before filing the complaint.

And now I'm wondering if BCBS will use this against me as well.

7. It might have been a paperwork mistake. I'd give the doctor a chance
to correct this first. And find another doctor if you need one.

Could you call Blue Cross and ask them to put a hold on this till you contact the doctor?

Though I just filed the complaint, BCBS didn't seem pleased at the idea of being overcharged either (they already paid $700 towards the claim).

8. I filed one years ago
it had nothing to do with billing and doc was not nice...I was in the middle of a very high risk pregnancy and her behavior was actually making things worse. I had an HMO at the time and they let me switch to another doc with them ..made her apologies to me.....and after the letter I got my butt kissed by the HMO and new doc....It was a horrible time I nearly lost my life and my sons ...

glad to say we both made it in the end but....not without some trauma.....and no thanks to her.
