STEVEN SREBRENICK: Beatles, Back To The Future & A Bad Disease
By Steven Srebrenick – World News Trust

Sometimes it takes the illness of someone so loved and famous to bring a tragic disease to be better known. Last Thursday night was a reminder to people that even the brightest star can shine in Hollywood, but normal living may be physically impossible.

Stricken in the prime of his life and career by Parkinson's Disease (PD), a young Michael J. Fox -- star of such film classics as the Back To The Future series -- to this day battles to maintain simple control of his motor skills. Even speaking for him is a chore, and he struggles with his disease as so many others do in the world every day.

It was last Wednesday the 15th that I just so happened to be hanging out with Francis Goodwin of World News Trust. We were exercising our glorious freedom by taking our children to view the stunning Statue Of Liberty from the forward outer deck of the magnificent Staten Island Ferry, "Spirit Of America." The wind was blowing heartily as we bade a heart-wrenching farewell to the isle of Manhattan we had so come to love and admire. The waters were rough and a chill in the air had been manifesting from the night before...

OK, ok, enough of the literary litany. While walking back from the ferry to Fulton street, we saw a flyer about a performance of the Beatles album "Abbey Road" by The Fab Faux was happening at the Downtown Auditorium on Broad St. on June 16th. The Fab Faux were doing the performance as a benefit for the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Research Foundation.
