A storm on Saturn, bigger than the Earth
From my favorite science blogger, Phil Plait: A Saturnian storm larger than worlds:

A couple of weeks ago, amateur astronomers discovered a new storm erupting on Saturn. The accomplished astrophotographer Anthony Wesley got pictures of it, and I wondered to myself when Cassini would snap some shots. Turns out, I didn’t have to wait long! The spacecraft took images of the planet on December 24th, returning — as usual — jaw-dropping pictures of Saturn showing the storm:




The image above was taken with a blue filter which brings out details of the storm system. The image below is taken with infrared filters which emphasize methane gas in Saturn's atmosphere:

Seriously though, thanks for sharing this, it is truly - I don't even want to pick a word but lets go with astounding to consider the scale of this and the terrible beauty of it.
