Browsers redux
I'm using Leopard on a 1ghz/1gb G4 Titanium and trying to decide on browsers. I was using Firefox 2 but it seemed clunky so I started using Safari again and it's much faster. I heard that Safari has security issues, I also don't like that there's no area on the bottom telling me the www location of a link I'm hovering over, so I tried Camino, same clunkiness. I'm back to Safari. Thoughts?

1. I'm using Safari 4.1.1
I don't know what security issues you've heard about, but I've never had any problems.

Also,URL's do show up at the bottom when the cursor is over a link.

The only problems I've had are crashes maybe once every three weeks. I think they are related to a particular kind of java script running on some pages.

3. You misread the "about Safari" box like I did.

Sorry about that, I indeed am running 3.1.1 which is the current version.

4. Safari 3+ is pretty darn good - firefox 3 is coming this summer with speed improvements.
I use firefox more because of the webdev plugins, etc. but safari is a pretty sooth ride -renders 'pretty' and fast. good text anti-aliasing makes for readability...Javascript is much faster than ffox on this ppc laptop.

"cmd + |" brings up the bottom links bar if I recall. Or check views menu.

6. I've been using Camino 1.6.1 and it's been very good, and very stable.
I'm a big fan of Safari and Shiira, but I think Camino is a worthy browser for the Mac.

7. I also use Camino
I like it a lot, find it very fast, and not overloaded with stuff I do not need.
