"Who gave you permission to invade my website..."
"...and block me and anyone else from accessing it??? Please remove your software immediately before I report it to government officials!!"

So begins the correspondence between Jerry Taylor, City Manager of Tuttle Oklahoma, a man with "22 years in computer systems engineering and operation", and the developers of CentOS Linux. Just read it, it's a lotta laffs (and more than a little dismaying):

1. Sounds like a lot of the idiots
I've dealt with. There are people who can't even be trusted to use a computer as a paper weight.

2. Oh, THAT's funny ...

In a "not so funny" kind of way, but still funny.

I have acquaintances I know who live in Tuttle. Consider this forwarded.

4. This made The Register ...

First story at the top when I loaded it just now. This is too funny.

7. Har!
Jerry certainly had his day. He was also Slashdotted, Reddited, Dugg, Farked, and Metafiltered. If I were him, I'd print and frame that Register article. After the mortification wore off, I'd take a perverse pride in getting skewered by the Reg.... once.

Poor Jerry... Oklahoma man asks Reg to turn off the internet

5. The truley horrible part of this
is that this City Manager besides having no manners or intelligence, actually bragged about the fact he was a computer systems engineer for Raytheon for 22 years.

6. This guy's resume'

It reads like comedy from someone who knows the area, and I do.

Since the Raytheon thing, he's apparently been shopping himself around to various "cities" as a city manager, and judging from the shape those towns are in, he's failed miserably at it. He was city manager of Hugo, OK for awhile. Hugo is like ... trying to think of a good analogy everyone would really understand ... Mayberry run by a racist Barney Fife in every important government position.

Tuttle is no prize town, obviously. It's on the outskirts of the OKC area, and crossing into it is like taking a step back in time.

11. I'm making a point to read through all of it
This is truly amazing. Here's this inky-dinky little Oklahoma town being mentioned all over the internet (including internationally, which I find just hysterical) just because some dude in his 70s didn't completely comprehend the words on the web page he was mistakenly viewing.

Incredible. But now I also know about CentOS :D
