1. You mean the desktop background?

The wallpaper? That's easy to change.

You can actually customize the desktop in many ways.

Get to know this site: http://gnome-look.org/

Depending on how deep you want to get into it, you can manipulate the desktop to look like a LCARS terminal from Star Trek if you want. :)

2. Thank you. lot of neat stuff there,
I just need to figure out the folders.LOL I like this system it seems to be better in terms of speed and no dreaded freezing up. And after never using anything except IE I gotta say firefox is pretty neat too. Thanks again for your help. I am sure I will be back with more questions.

3. I use Ubuntu, so just ask me a particular question and I'm sure we can figure it out.
Good on you for switching to Ubuntu by the way. You'll be happy you did it.

4. Once I learn my way around it I think
I will really enjoy it. It and firefox seem to be lightning fast compared to IE and windows xp. Click on something and boom, there it is. Thank you for your offer I am sure I will be yelling for help.
