Desktop died....data retrieved, but how do I copy Word....
dictionary into Word on laptop?

It seems I read custom things are in the normal.dot file. I have that template and renamed it desktopnormal.dot on a USB flash key.

Now, how to copy that into other Word program?

I'm hoping the dictionary, autotext and macros will copy, too?

1. I don't think the dictionary
is in the normal.dot file. To open the normal file, just use "Open", and direct the path to your flash drive. It appears the macros are stored with normal.dot >

I don't know anything about "auto text".

A thread which contains a dead link to "instructions" indicates the dictionary file is >
C:\Documents and Settings\my_user_name\Application Data\Microsoft\Proof\
with .dic extension.

Do you have access to all the files?
