Question about Microsoft® Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003

Recently I purchased a laptop

Toshiba - Satellite Laptop / Intel® Core™ i3 Processor / 16" Display / 4GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Slate
Model: A665-S6050

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+Satellite+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i3+Processor+/+16%22+Display+/+4GB+Memory+/+500GB+Hard+Drive+-+Slate/9988697.p?skuId=9988697&id=1218205766312

It comes pre-loaded with the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system and a 60 day trial of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 Edition.

Would the older Microsoft Student 2003 version work with the new Windows 7 operating system?

Or am I being forced into buying the Microsoft Student 2007 version?

Or is there a way to get the product key to activate the Microsoft Student 2007 version without buying the key?

Thanks for all your help!

1. I don't know about the Student version
but I'm running Office 03 on Win7 with no issues. If you're going to pay for a license, I'd go for 010, actually, unless you get a discount or something.

My laptop came with the 07 trial, but I just deleted it and put 03 on instead.

3. The Student 2003 version includes

Excel 2003, Outlook 2003, Word 2003, and PowerPoint 2003
Microsoft Office full-featured productivity tools for students and teachers

I wasn't sure if the old 2003 Student version of Office products would be compatible with the newest Win7 operating system. But it works for you!

I'll wait for a few days to see if there are others with additional opinions, before attempting anything.

Thanks for posting!

6. The Student and Teacher editions are simply smaller suites. The apps are identical to full version.
The Office suit includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Onenote (a new app), Access, Publisher, Visio, Visio Professional.

Student and Teacher includes(d) Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook (up to 2007) or Onenote (2010)

Small Business adds Oulook (2010)

Professional adds all except Visio.

Visio is only sold as a free standing app.

Each app, no matter from which suite, is identical in all respects.

The Mac suites are similar, but not identical. For example, no Outlook, but they include Entourage.

To the best of my knowledge, anything back to *at least* 2000 will run just fine. Not so true of Mac versions, which have shorter lifespans and less backward compatibility with the OS.
