Kill Google Suggest
Google suggest will not let you turn off google suggest. I would like to kill it. I guess their new system is that it cannot be done.
I am using Alta Vista for the moment to escape it. And I have seen many posts over the years from people who also hate it. But it looks like they have now set it in concrete.
How can I tell google? They are like a huge monolith. No way to send them a message?

1. Apparently, clients1.google.com is the data server for Suggest
Redirecting it to 128.0.0.1 in your hosts file or adding it to an adblocker will kill Suggest.

3. Can also be turned off by clicking Off (press enter to search) in the drop-down menu
on the Google Instant result page...

4. Earth. That only turns off google instant. It does not turn off
"suggestions", which can be seen in your screen print. That is what I want to get rid of. Not everybody likes that, nor wants that.

Google to second guess you
Ben Grubb
September 10, 2010

GOOGLE will now begin searching the internet and displaying results from the moment users start typing, the company announced.

As internet users begin a word, Google's homepage will move instantly to a page of results that is updated as each letter is typed.

Google, which answers 1 billion search queries per day, described the move as a "fundamental change" that will save the world's internet users a combined 11 hours per second, or 111 years per day.

The update has been trialled over the past two days with ''Google Doodles'' on the company's homepage.

The service is now available in the US and will be rolled out ''in the coming weeks'' on Google's Australian site, google.com.au. In the meantime, Australians can access the feature through google.com.
