Infrared doggy doors
I have a question about these doors. I have two dogs and 4 cats. I don't want the cats to go outside -- we have coyotes, fox, and some huge predator birds that would make a meal of them. OTOH, I'd love to allow the dogs to go in and out at will. The IR doggy doors are supposed to only allow the critter with the transmitter thing to open the door. So, if I put that on the dog collars but not the cats', will the cats still manage to get out? I think they'd have to be pretty fast to get out before it closes.

Any experience with these?

1. Unfortunately, yes.
My daughter has one of these for her dog and two cats. One problem is that the dog likes to go sit in front of the door just to look out. But even when she opens it just to go out, the cats are right behind her. You can adjust the timer but that hasn't helped in my daughter's situation. Otherwise, it works great! ;)

3. Thanks for the feedback.
I looked at the reviews on Petsmart's website. Not so good. I think I need to find another solution!

Thanks again.

2. Cats are remarkably fast and clever. You might have to experiment.

4. Well, two of mine are...
the other two are either fat and lazy or dumber than *.
