Alright, that's IT. Open window privileges are revoked PERMANENTLY.
One of the windows in the house has been in use as a portal of exit/entry for the cats since last year.
Riktor (the eldest male) has discovered he can punch the screen out, and he has done this so many times that I've given up and said "OK, fine. You can haz portal."
Cat rule: "There shall be no doors- only portals from one place to another."

So, I'm doing something on the computer, and finally register that I'm hearing in the background some very soft little 'thud's and Finnegan's distinctive "Mmmrrow? Mmmmmmmmrrrrr? (whuff whuff) Mmmmmrrrrrrow?"

Aw man...what's he got now?
I go out to look to see what he's playing with...

...AND IT'S A SNAKE. IT'S A FARKIN' SNAKE!!
:wow:

It's a garter snake...about half-grown, going by its coloration...longitudinal stripes of black, and red-going-to-yellow.
OK, harmless...and it's all curled up, so it's probably moribund, so I can just...HOLY SHIT, THERE IT GOES!.

It's not moribund, not in the least.

So I'm trying to find something to contain the snake and chivvy it into the container. Finnegan is 'helping' (no, really he is) by keeping it from taking refuge behind the couch...
I say "Fark this " and go get the reachy-grabby thing. It's not quite able to pick it up, but the snake crawls into an empty box that once held a video cassette to hide. Thank FSM I'm such a lousy housekeeper...
The snake is contained! Yay! :bounce:

I take it outside and turn it loose in the garden. Seems to be moving pretty well...hope it (didn't look at it closely enough to determine gender) has learned a lesson about cats...what they taste like on the wind, what they feel like through the ground, what they look like...and to AVOID THEM LIKE HELL.

But the cats, (and Peter Pan) are now SOL. The Window Is Closed.
Now I've got to figure some kind of way to attach the screen so that Riktor can't just punch it out anymore.
