Wanna help the Occupy Movement and Wishadoo?
A brilliant and dear ASAHer just suggested something which prompts me to once again reach out to see if you may want to be part of some brainstorming.

First, I apologize in advance. I'm not thinking clearly and have very little energy right now. I'm dealing with some health issues but hope to get attention in the next day or two and be on the road to recovery. Even if I can't engage much in this thread in the next day or two, I wanted to plant this seed, since it feels very important this evening.

I have contacted the OccupyTogether site and a few local Occupy sites, offering Wishadoo's services to help in any way possible. Each location has a list of things they need, so I offered to create a section for each OWS movement to post their needs in Wishadoo's Wishlist. Obviously people are staying in touch via email, on Facebook, Twitter and goodness knows where else, but I feel this is what Wishadoo was born for....it combines the macro (global) connection with the micro (individual communities and individuals themselves) needs. It's about having an open heart and reaching out to one another to inspire and empower.

Very understandably, things are chaotic for the organizers of each location, so it's hard to get their attention right now and hard for anyone to think about anything beyond each day's events.

This Brilliant ASAHer just advised: "Get a clear vision of how it can propel the movement into deep occupations across neigborhoods and regions. You need a good pitch that gives them the idea of the potential of it. Most people are working on what's happening NOW, but a few are ready to anticipate the situation after the occupation has set up infrastructure and is ready for the next level of occupation in our communities."

I would imagine most of us here are VERY supportive of the Occupy Movement, and see the unity and Oneness of it all. Maybe if you can visit www.wishadoo.org and look at it in a new light...in the context of the Occupy Movement and how the existing tools may be of service? And how you might offer other tools and features that could be of service down the road to help this Oneness Movement?

There is a marketplace ready to go though I don't think it's visible to the public just yet (not sure how I have permissions set at the moment).

I've mentioned several off-shoot ideas all under the Wishadoo umbrella over the last few months, including a grassroots blog network to share inspiring, empowering stories and events going on in the world, a Twitter-like campaign of "What If" (taking a current event story and writing how we imagine the most positive outcome would look...what if this happened?), and other things.

Please let your imagination soar as you visit Wishadoo, as what is currently seen there is merely the foundation, the beginning.

I'll check in periodically, but if you want to share here or write me privately regarding any ideas you have to help Wishadoo be of service to the Occupy Movement -- and how to get the word out there about it -- I'd be most grateful for your thoughts and participation.

If something hits me on this I will chime in. And of course all here are very supportive of the 99% movement in its present incarnation.

2. What about a section just for OWS.
To raise money for the movement and anything else they need.

Coats,gloves, blankets .....Anything at all.

Sorry if Wishadoo already has created a section for OWS.I've donated twice to OWS already but I aim to do it regularly till well whenever.
Do they need bail money?
Wishadoo would be an Ideal place to keep an updated list of what OWS needs and where to send, and in care of whom.

3. Thanks, Howler. :)

Yes, ma'am, that's exactly what I would be willing to do: Create a space dedicated to OWS in the Wishlist, in Groups, a link to the different official fundraising accounts, etc.

People in the various locations would have to post the needs, however, as there's no way I would know who needs what. Getting their attention in order to offer these tools -- not only for right now, but as the movement continues and people see that we can indeed do this ourselves...creating a new way -- is my challenge.

There's so much beauty in truly grassroots movements, yet trying to reach everyone in the network is really hard...lol. At least it is for me right now, given I'm operating at 50% brain power. ;)

I'll keep trying to reach this group: http://www.occupytogether.org/occupy-wall-st/

There are so many individual "Occupy" groups (which is awesome), I can't imagine contacting each one individually, but when I feel better, that may indeed be what I have to do.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

Edit to add that I went ahead and created an OWS category, which is at the top of the Category List, and created two subcategories, Raleigh and Wall Street. But again, there are so many more to be created, which I'll gladly do if I can connect with the individual groups that want to use Wishadoo.

:)

5. Another thing, as findrskeep suggested a week or so ago....
Is that the business directory could have a section or a way of delineating restaurants, retailers, etc., which are supporting OWS. By having them listed in the Wishadoo Directory, we can more easily find the Main Street businesses to support, which are in turn supporting the OWS with food, clothing, etc., that people are purchasing and sending to the occupation camps (!).

:)

7. I'd like to participate in some way.....
I'll spend some time at Wishadoo (which I haven't done yet) and let you know what ideas I have. The umbrella name for the movement is OccupyTogether; intended to encourage involvement in smaller communities and neighborhoods. As you stated above, Wishadoo might be a crucial puzzle piece in helping grow that effort.

It might take me a few days to get back to you on this; and I can't promise my ideas will be great, but I'll at least throw some things at you (not literally!). :D

Hope you are feeling better soon.

8. Thanks so much, Avalux!
It turns out I don't have the procedure until Friday now and don't think it's going to be nearly as bad as I initially expected, so feel free to throw something at me at any time.

I love that you said "a crucial puzzle piece," as that is Wishadoo's tagline: Be the Missing Piece.

:hi:

9. how about democratizing the movement into the suburbs?
let suburban communities use it like a local listserve to organize micro OWS events. that way people who cannot make the trip to the larger events can have their own little event.
when you start getting down to Occupy Beaufort or Occupy Roseville, no matter how small, you start to create a gathering pushing towards that critical 11% of the Herd to change direction.

10. Yes, I neglected to mention the group feature has a good event module...
I always envisioned neighborhoods creating groups, making use of each group's forum, events and other tools. Each group can have their own (private if they want) wishlist, too. I've mentioned that for DU and even ASAH; often times people don't want to publicize what need they have beyond a trusted group, so the ability to create these private group wishlists was a big deal for me to create at Wishadoo. Hasn't been used yet though.

Again there's the larger public wishlist, with the ability to have smaller private group wishlists. Macro and micro again.

Not sure the best way to get the word out. I just have a feeling the various delays in fully launching Wishadoo have to do with This Moment in Time. The OWS movement is part of the divine timing of it all.

I still don't have a game plan, so to speak, as to how to most effectively reach people and offer Wishadoo in conjunction with OWS. I'll call forth that clarity, and appreciate you guys homing in on that same focus with me.

Thanks, NuttyFluffers.

11. Occupy Your Neighborhood...Occupy Your Life @ Wishadoo
The foundation to connect and be empowered in various ways is in place. Offering webinars and online classes for any of the myriad things we'll be facing as we create a new world is another thing I want to offer down the road as people gather. Wishadoo really is a gateway, one entered with an open heart and open mind.

So many cool "occupy" memes are organically springing up. Occupy the Earth is pure awesomeness as a message of unity and Oneness.

The "Occupy Your Neighborhood" and "Occupy Your Life" came to mind and I thought I'd share. Another ASAHer mentioned another very cool occupy theme that I feel connects to Wishadoo, but I'll let her/him share if they see fit. :)

12. ooh, i like those.
very resonant. asks us to be "present," regardless of conditions or mindset. "Occupy Your Earth/Nation/City/Neighborhood/Life" definitely resonates for everyone to participate in some way. hopefully it will invite those more home or region bound to feel that they can help in their own way.

the best thing for Wishadoo is gentle exposure, an organic realization that there's another space in which to organize. what can Wishadoo offer that other spaces cannot? perhaps it can be said to offer a space less based on -isms and judgment, and more based on seeking kindred spirits. that way its mission statement is diffused and democratized, just like the "organization" of Occupy Wall Street.

without leaders, you cannot be led; no longer a focused fighting force, but neither sheep to slaughter...
