This isn't really about "health" or spirituality or astrology, and I wouldn't put it here, except for the awe I have for the capacity of the brain to make things "right" when they're ....NOT!

But read this all the way down:

I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid Aoccdrnig to a rheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer inwaht

6. Not Cambridge, Edinburgh.
Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 09:25 PM by sans qualia
I was going there at the time. The research was being done at the University of Edinburgh.

... anyway, it is pretty cool. Apparently it doesn't work as well in other languages with more regular phonetic rules, because in English people read for meaning, not sounds... or something. I wasn't actually involved, I just read about it.

7. LOL! Maybe this is why people think George bush makes sense!
Maybe it's not just a physical reading exercise that works this way, but also a speaking thing. Consider how many people understand

nukular
prostrate (when referring to the prostate)

Those are just two examples of mispronounced words with letters jumbled up or misspelled in pronounciation. I can't think of any others right now, but it always amuses me how people use these words that are a speaking version of a misspelled word, but they find their way into acceptable everyday speech on television.
