Astrology experts--are the forecasts you get in the paper worth it?
Just for fun, I subscribe to a couple of daily astrology forecasts, one based on my sun sign only, the other giving forecasts based upon aspects of various planets. I've noticed that the forecasts never fit what is going on in my life. I thought with the sun sign one this would be because it doesn't take into account the planets, etc, but the aspect one is just as bad at predicting what is going on. So what sort of daily forecast could I get that would be helpful, or are they all bunk?

1. Not an expert; hope an expert jumps in

Have you tried reading for your rising sign? I have found that the forecast for my rising is more accurate than my sun sign, although not that accurate.

2. No, hadn't thought of that
My rising sign is opposite my sun sign, which I've always taken to weaken the sun sign's significance. So maybe it would make sense to check out my rising sign.

3. Also not an expert, but as far as forecasts in the paper,
I am a HUGE fan of Rob Brezny. Of course, it's really sort of astrology combined with your Deep and Provocative Thought for the Week, ;) but I do enjoy him.

4. They are not all bunk, however...
Mostly

I write them myself and find it very difficult. You can be a Virgo, for example, and be about 20% Virgo actually. You might have 5 planets in Aries for example and not know it. If they are written well, as some are, they can be informative. One must be cautious not to declare specific events. They are more effective if the astrologer is talking about the archetypal level of things. Then, they really can be.

Nevertheless, charts are very, very complicated and a real reading is what is needed. Daily horrorscopes are clearly our biggest nemesis. People think that's what astrology is - can't blame em. We're up against a huge mountain of misunderstanding.

Even with a complete, accurate chart, it's still very difficult to read one. I've been trying to 30 years and just now really getting the hang of it.

Use 2 grains of salt.

6. Generally not
In terms of arena's of life they can sometimes apply.

However, if they give you solace it can be worth the indulgence. But you are truly far more complex than one quality that is shared unequivocally with 12 % of the population.

7. For a while there, the syndicated horoscope than ran in my suburban daily was the best one
I read every day. I'll go look it up and PM you the name of the astrologer.
