An artful manifestation, and another...er...not so much
One thing I will not dispute: The manifestations are coming fast and furious in my life. It's really amazing. Now...I must learn the art of finesse.

Two manifestations today. First the good news: I was called for jury duty starting tomorrow (Monday), and I reeeeaallly didn't want to go. It's not that I don't want to do my civic duty; it's just that it was bad timing and would have been a real hassle juggling it and all the freelance work I've got right now. But I called the courthouse phone number at the appointed time tonight, only to get the message that none of the jurors is needed. Plus I'm now off the rolls for SIX years. (To look at it from a "bright side" perspective, that means there's no major crime to speak of in our county.)

And now the...less good news: The MG family went out to eat tonight. I really need to start losing weight again--I was doing fine during the summer, when I was burning calories painting the garage and doing yardwork, but the pounds have been creeping up on me lately because I'm spending a lot of time planted in front of my computer (the down side of getting all that freelance work). So I toyed with the idea of getting a salad, but instead I caved in to the chicken breast with gravy and mashed potatoes. I felt bad about getting it, and so ate it sparingly, wondering if it would make good leftovers or not...and then I happened to lift up the chicken breast, which was lying on top of the mashed potatoes.

There was a large black lump of unidentifiable...something...lying there. I still don't know what it was. Had the consistency of a slightly undercooked brownie, and it was about 2 inches long and an inch thick. Could've been a lump of congealed grease. The waiter tried to pass it off as a piece of potato, but it wasn't part of the mashed potatoes--it was on top of them. Whatever the mystery lump was, it put me off my food, and I didn't eat another bite. (Bonus: The waiter took my meal off the bill.)

Needless to say, I need to work on my technique. I think there are less repulsive ways to keep me on my diet, no?

It really is wonderful. I mean, you can read all about all these great things that are going to start happening with the Shift, but when you experience it, it's just way cool. But yeah, fine tuning is apparently of utmost importance, especially if I don't want any more of those nasty surprises hiding under my chicken! :scared:

2. That's one tough diet
you are putting yourself through. But don't over do it as you do need to eat someday again! What's it called when people quit smoking by grossing themselves out with overindulging in cigarettes? Aversion therapy or something like that. Reading that made the back of my throat hurt.

4. Yeahhh I think I'm going to have to tweak the manifestation thing a bit
You always hear "Be careful what you wish for", so that's always at the forefront of our minds when we're manifesting, but I think the advice that's most pertinent is "BE SPECIFIC ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT".

So, with that in mind, I hereby manifest a sudden taste for low-fat foods, salads, and lean meats, and a lack of interest in sweets and fats. NOT a sudden need to find a mystery lump hiding on my dinner plate! So Mote It Be!

Oh--speaking of aversion therapy, you just reminded me of something else that happened the other day! I have been trying to drink only water and tea (and of course coffee in the morning--I have no desire to do without that!), yet Mr. MG is quite the wine connoisseur, so we always have a bottle or two around. He likes to have a glass with dinner, and sometimes I will as well (you know, "since he's opened the bottle and everything" blah blah blah), even though I know that's extra calories I don't need.

Well, Friday night, which is always our "pizza and wine" night, I had some, and it tasted TERRIBLE. Very strange, as it had been one of my favorites (Ravenswood zinfandel). I only had a few sips and left the rest. I couldn't get the yucky taste out of my mouth the whole night. Hee. I suspect that's part of my dietary changes too.

5. Good for you.
As an aside, over the years, I have found out that the only diet that works to take it off and keep it off for me is counting calories. I can lose weight at 1200 calories a day and keep in off with between 1500 and 1600 calories a day. I don't have to deny myself treats like desert. I just need to eat less to keep under the calorie count. All I need to do is eat a little of everything in small portions. Every other fad diet doesn't do the job like counting calories.

My situation is a little more complicated, because I'm hypothyroid and have high blood sugar. Because of that, my metabolism is at a crawl--carbs are the enemy because my body doesn't like to let go of ANY calories, plus it has a hard time processing starch/sugar. For me, losing weight is the most impossible uphill slog imaginable. So I need to move more, to keep my metabolism up, and I have gotten away from the correct method of eating (for my situation), which is to limit carbs to nearly nil; I need to get back to that too.
