The Power Of 8
Money problems seem to be haunting everyone, even small amounts help. Recently a friend of mine who is in very big trouble spoke to her astrologer (a friend, but a different one from the one I've mentioned on this forum before), and he told her to write the number 8 on a piece of paper and stick it in her wallet. "This was his advice to you?" I asked, incredulous. She started laughing and went on to explain. He had, one day, been listening to a radio program where a woman called in, in response to a person who was having money problems, and this woman said to do what the astrologer subsequently told my friend. He forgot about it until a few weeks later when people started calling in and saying they had done it and had results. Then the same night his SO, who does a lot on eBay, said he wasn't getting a single hit on his auctions. So he too put an 8 in his wallet and the next morning he had 20 bids. Consequently, both my friend and I have done it, and while we haven't gotten large amounts and while the benefit hasn't always come in the form of cold hard cash, it does seem to do something.

So, I'm putting this out there. What harm can writing the number 8 on a piece of paper and sticking it in your wallet do?

2. Aha!
Not on this forum they can't! But maybe they should test it out, scientifically and empirically of course. And then they could take someone out to dinner and over the meal make fun of the OPer. (LOL)

in every available receptacle I can find! No great riches, but man-o-man - small reliefs just when we need 'em. Laid off by my main client for 2 months (I'm a housekeeper & they have been building a huge, new McMansion. Sold their old McMansion & are living w/the parents till new one is finished.). This client is the one that pays the rent, I do them twice a week - a VERY big setback! :scared: 2 days later (after I put the 8's all over my wallet!) I get a call from another client - she had heard that I had an opening - would I please add another day to her house (twice a week, now! :7)? Another call from an old client, had to turn her down - not enough open days in the week (she also wanted 2 days, her old schedule)! Sweating getting the old heap tagged - got the $$ for the DMV, smog ... not enough for insurance. 2 days ago, a neighbor helped me out w/the insurance angle (not cash, but a tip) - presto! Today we have tags, so I can get to these jobs & pay said rent! I'm putting some of these 8's in the trunk & glovebox - the bugger needs tires, badly (& I'm hedging against any breakdowns for repairs)! All in what - @ a weeks span? Like I said, not rich - but it's saving our asses & keeping the roof over our heads! I love you!!!!!!

Been walking around w/Davy Jones & the Monkees singing "I'm A Believer" in my head all day (dating myself here, didn't like them that much the first time around! LOL).

12. Well That Flipped Me Out
Went to the site, thank you very much, and then clicked on the icon that said numbers and saw the thing which said the power of 8. I thought I was imagining it, because it hadn't been explained to me as the power of 8, yet that was the title for this thread that came to me. I'm going to take that as meaning we were meant to have this info.

"You are simply letting the universe know that you are ready for more financial prosperity in your life.I have had hundreds of emails from people telling their story of financial success by doing this. If you want to speed up the process, I suggest you start saying the following affirmation: "I pay my bills with ease, and I always have extra money".

Ok, I'm putting that sentence with my bills! :-)

OT-- I walked into the den and handed the "8" to hubby and said "Put this in your wallet"

he grabbed his wallet, stuck it in and said "Do I need to know why I'm doing this?"

He has started to trust my DU "channels" LOL

18. Did this work? You tell me.
Last night, I drew a number 8 on a piece of paper and placed it in my wallet. I also put one in my shoe for good measure.
I had been meaning to do this, as I am willing to give any idea a good try these days.
This morning, I received a solid job offer after looking and applying since Feb 15th.
They want me to start June 1st, which is fine with me.
It is not my dream job, but it is a foot in the door.
With the extra money they give me each month to buy my own insurance, it comes to more than I WAS making...and it is less than 4 miles from my home.
My unemployment was to end this coming week.
I am so darned relieved!
Thank you, thank you for posting this, Me!!

20. The Cantonese Word For "8"
Edited on Tue May-10-05 07:56 PM by Me.
sounds just like the Cantonese word for "wealth." The Chinese believe "8" bestows lucrative good fortune. A reporter for the NY Times was named Jennifer 8 Lee by her parents, who wished the absolute best for her. "8" is her middle name.....

This was sent to me by someone who is a member of DU but who cannot post in group forums. Thanks Crowdance.

28. I'm hoping...I will keep you posted
I read this post and really had to sleep on it for a couple of days before I'd give it a try. I've tried too many new agey spells that have consquences or mess with balance. And, personaly, I feel if you don't have balance in your life, you don't have anything.

I read a book a couple years ago, and just reread it a month ago that mentions 8 as maninfestation. It also mentions this number should never be combined with the number 4, because it will manifest on the physical plane and may bring distruction. For example, if your house number totals 4 and your name totals 8, think about changing the spelling to negate the 8.

But after a couple days, I thought I'd give it a try, with some trepidation. I was locking up my desk at work, took out a post-it not and just wrote an 8 on it with no big thought. Well, I did feel like a 'punch in the gut' feeling, so there is something there.

I will let you know!:hi:

32. Okay, I wasn't sure what to make of this, but from everything I read
on this post so far, it didn't seem like it would hurt to try it. This afternoon, I wrote an '8' on 2 pieces of paper: one for my wallet, and one for my husband's. When he came home for lunch, I handed him the paper, told him to put it in his wallet, and not ask questions. He had a puzzled look on his face, but was rushing out the door, too soon for me to give him a proper explanation. Well, he just called me, and told me that he got a landscaping job that needs to start tomorrow! We have both been out of work for quite some time, and in severe financial straits. Also, he called an old friend of his to check-in and say 'Hi', and the friend said he'd been meaning to call Mr. LDiva as his company is growing faster than he knows how to deal with it, and could sure use Mr. LDiva's help. They are meeting on Saturday to discuss a job!

Wow! That was fast! Thank you so much Me. for sharing this secret! I'm a believer!!

38. Hmmmm? What are the odds?
I came and visited last night and was reading the post.

Being a sucker for things that pique my curiosity I decided to explore.

I took three pieces of paper slightly smaller than dollar size and drew the infinity glyph. One for my wife, one for me, and one to place under my keyboard as I daytrade.

I asked my wife to get her wallet and explained. She thought I was nuts.....actually she knows I'm nut having lived with me for 30 years...{yes she's a saint}

My wife works at a major hospital in Boston in the pathology department. As usual I picked her up at the train this afternoon.
When she got in the car she said "you're not going to believe this. The new head of surgical pathology gave all the lab techs an envelope today...." She opened the envelope and it contained five $100.00 American Express checks.

This was less than 24 hours after asking her to give it a try.

if one is fairly well-off and not really needing the money (but could always use it to save, etc.) it would be universally ethical to use this? I'd hate to appear as if I am being to greedy, but in reality I could use a little extra cash flow (everything is tied up in investments right now)Anyone?

47. Should I ever be so fortunate to win a lottery,
I have resolved to give a LOT of it to deserving charities and left-wing causes. I don't think it's wrong to want financial success, but if you are in a position to make a difference in other people's lives, you should also be doing that.

My two cents. :)

I really meant gave. I mean, at first it was a loan, but I really didn't expect it back; it's just that they THOUGHT I did, so they were embarrased and quit being friends with me. I tried to explain to them that their friendship was more important, but it didn't work. I can understand, but it still hurts. I did need it a couple of times, but I managed to get through and as long as the little ones are taken care of,that is really all that matters. I needed to learn a lesson it seems. Gotta hate those "learning experiences"!:P

But....The power of 8 is not working. I can honestly say this week has been the most financially devastating week I had in a very, very, long time...could say ever, but don't want to sound extreme. It will take months to recover from this little setback.

I'm not expecting any responses, just an FYI. Sorry for any typos, my hubby is getting me drunk and that only takes two beers.

And when a Taurus with a Capricorn moon is drinking instead of facing a financial problem..it's pretty bad!

64. Saturn?
That's our problem at the moment. A bitch and all we can do is wait it out. Come July, I'm told things will ease. What I have decided to try and do is just stop worrying. Easy to say as I've been a world class worrier all my life but it has never done me any good and the worry is counterproductive. I used a discount card to buy a paperback version of the "Power of Now" based on the post Dover did in this forum. I'm thinking if I can let go of the problem, the channels will be cleared and solutions will present themselves. I wish you the best Sue and hope a rapidly appearing solution presents itself to you.

I made an appointment to get some body work done, trying to get my energy un-stuck! I'm a worrier, also, and I'm holding a lot of my worries in my muscles right now.

But as momsue used to say: "This, too, shall pass."

70. Get this hehe
my dad died in march and left quite a bit of cash. I have been running to the mail box excited everyday since the end of april (when the trust was to be settled) . So when the power of 8 showed up I put the 8s in my wallet, checkbook and spouses. So far out of thousands of $'s, Ive only recieved 915.00.

So I KNOW there is big money coming to me... yet it is stalled and stalled. The 8 has not helped me with this money since I already knew about it???. I think I shall check and see if saturn is involved, since Im a Leo, Cap rising, Taurus moon.

Actually I dont think the universe has anything to do with me getting this money... my bro and I did it ourselves by not rocking dad's boat where he wouldnt not leave it to us (it was aclose thing, and we were always kind to him). (He was a repuke, wanted to take it with him, begrudged leaving it to us, and was a true narcisist personality -- like his HERO GWB.) It is sad when the old man gets to 94 so clueless about his family who was not clueless about him! Our mother died in 2001 (not that he cared) and she told us then we would prolly never see a penny since he was such an incredible old fool and the most selfish bastard that ever lived-- we didnt believe her at the time but when he became unfettered by her influence then he really blossomed into a full blown true narcissist. Narrcisists are fun to laugh about as jokes, but when they are your father, its not so funny.)

We will see it (money) now for which I feel she is vindicated for 60 years of marriage to this old man.

To be specifically loving to the opposite sex could bring complications and people into your life that you don't want. I would write down what I want in regards to a like soul, put the number on the paper, fold it up and put it away. Go on your merry way, secure in the knowledge that your message is known to the universe, and forget it, completely. Let go of it. That is the way manifestation works. You have to get yourself out of the way and it most usually happens when we are not watching or looking for it to happen.

Well, Mom always kept envelopes filled with cash stashed around the house. As my sister and I were rolling up the rug in her bedroom, we found it.

(Of course, I still have 8s stashed everywhere- even tho I didn't strike it rich in the lottery. I thought it was pretty neat that the exact amount in the envelope was $80!)

Over many years, I have been told by psychics that there is buried treasure on the property. The house is over 350 years old. In a couple of weeks, we're going to rent a metal detector and begin to search- My kids think this is just marvelous!:9

72. Ha! The neighbors are already curious about all the
comings and goings...Sometimes I feel like they are watching us with binoculars! My mother was quite the talk of the neighborhood, and now they all want to know what has happened to her.

I can just imagine what they would do if we got a backhoe in there!!:hide:

Several weeks ago we found some picric acid in the medicine cabinet. Picric acid is a very old fashioned remedy for burns. Funny thing is it is HIGHLY explosive, particularly if it is old and has formed crystals.

So, we had to get the HAZMAT team to come in and remove it! At 10 PM on a Thursday night 12 HAZMAT trucks roar into the neighborhood--Of course, they all had their sirens going...and proceeded to extricate the 4 oz bottle of picric acid from the powder room. (They said it could have exploded like a grenade would. Yikes!)

Anyway, I think the 'treasure' may be 14 steps down under ground in the root cellar...Will keep you posted, Me.

Edited on Sun May-29-05 05:53 AM by Quakerfriend
acid is a chemical that is sometimes used in the process of heatreating metals for whatever purpose they will be used for. For example, they would use certain chemicals and temperatures to treat a batch of scissors or airplane parts or whatever. I guess they brought some home to use in case anyone got burned. My oldest sister recognized it because she had sometimes worked with Dad. And, thank God she did because the bottle was very old. It had my grandfather's handwriting on it...and he died in 1974!

Funny, I felt is was my grandfather's way of letting us know that he was there! Great way for his spirit to drop in and say hello.

We all got a real kick out of telling Dad (now 82, and still heatreating) the story!!

Now, how did you know about picric acid being explosive? I would not have known this, and just gone about my business of boxing up/throwing away, and probably exploded the house! did it have crystals formed? Am I the only one who doesn't know these things?

In fact, the chief of the fire dept. told us that they have been educating their younger firefighters about picric because many of them have never heard about it.

And yes, it did have crystals because it was atleast 30 yrs old!

They told us that they took it to a nearby field and exploded it- and, it did go off like a grenade!!!

This is an explosive that can be made from asprin.
Of course, it is a delicate process, and requires some other acids, but these can be purchased or stolen from the high school lab.
In the wrong hands, this stuff is extremely dangerous.

I still have 3 of them, but walking became difficult when I injured my knee. I do know of places where "supposedly" it is good to look for goodies.
A metal detector will not get the deep objects unless they are quite large.
You might also try a divining rod. You can use a traditional stick or bend some metal pieces of wire. I think copper is supposed to be superior for some reason. I made a pair, but never tried them in the field. Then again, I never hunted for treasure, but artifacts.
Be careful how you dig so you don't damage things.
I am so excited for you!

That's so cool!

From what the psychics have said, it seems that we are searching for coins. And, more than 50 years ago my parents did find some coins buried in the hearth of what was once the main fireplace in the old house.

Does stone (as in walls) interfere with the ability to detect metal?

Also, as an expert can you tell the difference between the metal in old wrought iron nails vs. coins, for example?? There are many old nails, hinges and etc. around the place. As you know, several hundred years ago people just tossed their trash out the window.

Thanks so much for your input!

88. Yes, you can hear the difference
You will also be able to tell on the meter. Desirable metals make a very sweet sound, iron makes somewhat of a scratchy sound.
When you finally rent one, experiment with some coins (also pure silver coins) to see how they sound. If the area is really trashy, you may have to pick up quite abit to be able to detect the good signals. Headphones will come in handy and they will rent those to you as well most likely. Do not blab your story at the metal detector store...you will have a hoard of people from all over begging to dig your yard!

They may have buried it in tin cans, or I know of one tale in Maryland where an eccentric old farmer hid his money in those huge milk containers.
If I heard a HUGE signal, even if bad sounding...I would check it for those reasons. Just don't keep throwing the trash back down only to have to re-find it. Oh, and even some of the iron stuff could be valuable. Don't throw anything out unless it is a poptop or bottlecap. I have some nice Civil War grommets and tent parts that I did not realize WERE relics. Even old buttons can be valuable.

You have heard of post-hole banks possibly. In the past, people did not trust banks and would bury a cache near a fence post.

Check for loose bricks IN the chimney as well.
Check cabinets for false floors, check floors for secret compartments.
Check above beams in the basement and attic.
Do be careful of where you put your hands in case of nasty spiders.

Oh, and you might find interesting things just outside the kitchen door. They used to throw out the water and you should get some good targets there as well.

problem was - I also would forget hiding it. Don't ask. Just remember that sometimes a certain 'brand' of cigarette is conducive to being forgetful - I even hid THAT once & forgot where ... till winter came & I turned the central heat on. Found it then, in the register/vent! (I don't do that anymore) LOL! I also can make myself forget stuff, auto-suggestion or something.

Best time I've ever had was packing to move @ 12 yrs ago. Found a total of almost $500.00, carefully concealed in a variety of places. I impressed myself w/just how sneaky I could get when paranoid!

Course the ability to order yourself to forget can be handy, I love rereading books. Just to see what I forgot.

Nothing like a family treasure hunt, good for you! This will be a fun memory for your kiddies, & they can pass on the story of the power of 8's to their kids!

I placed it in my wallet, my partner's wallet (he hasn't even noticed), and the primary checkbook...we have been hit with more financial problems than in the past few months. Not even my birthday (birthday magick and all) could turn the tide! I got more job rejections, and unexpected bills.

84. As You Can See
upthread there a several people who just can't catch a break. Not for the moment, seemingly. Why is difficult to say, for some of us it's Saturn. My approach of late has been to heed the metaphysical and "stop watching the pot". Easy to say, difficult to do and infuriating to hear, but there is truth in it. Watched pots do not boil, or, seem to take forever testing our patience to the limits, especially when we are out of time. But get on the phone, take your attention off it and when you look again it is at a rolling boil. That is how it works with manifestation. If you observe something in a negative state and keep your consciousness on it, affirming that state, it stays exactly that way. On the other hand, if you can get yourself out of the way, change has a way in. A paradox, I know. Something else I also know is that persistence pays off, so don't accept your current situation as the final one.

What a nice pep talk! :) I don't think this is my "final" situation. I was just frustrated. And, I know this will sound awful, but I was glad to see I wasn't the only one!

I like the "watched pot" analogy. Sometimes, I do focus too much on what is going wrong, instead of looking for what is right. And, as frustrating as it is to hear, it is important to be reminded, gently (as you did), to look for the blessings, and remember..."all good things come to those who wait"...as well as, "those who make their own destinies."

Thanks for being so nice! :)

100. Well, sorta.
I am SO skeptical about this stuff (numerology), but I tried it. When this thread first appeared in early May, I wrote an 8 on my business card and put it in my wallet. At first, nothing. I bought lottery tickets, nothing. I even put the lottery ticket next to the 8. Nothing.
Let me clue you in: I've been broke for years, more or less, since my husband had a heart attack and had to stop working. My salary is not sufficient for our former lifestyle. Even after cutting out as much as possible, I still have a horrendous automobile gasoline bill because I commute 100 miles a day.
We can't afford to move, even if my husband would move, so don't suggest it, please.

Last year I took on a second job, and it has brought in about $10,000 so far, (net), with hopes of bringing on more. But so far it hasn't made a huge dent.
I know, I know, I'll cut to the chase.

About two weeks after I put the 8 in my wallet, a solution to my financial crisis appeared. I won't go into great detail because it is personal, but by fall I should be home free and not have such serious problems meeting my obligations. I will be able to save money and plan for the future.

So does the 8 work? I don't know. I just know that I am not the same today as I was in May when I put that 8 in my wallet. Positive thinking? Maybe. But something is radically changed.

101. Is It The Eight?
Don't know either. My thinking has been is that is a way of fooling the mind, giving more weight to possibility rather than fear which constricts and cuts us off from what we want and need. It could even be an unconscious click within, a connection we're not aware of, which draws what we want near. Of one thing I am positively sure, it's fantastic that your life is changing for the better.

102. I don't think it's the 8.
I think it is the energy shift that happens when you believe that the 8 will "do" something. It's not the 8 itself, but the deliberate intent behind it.

That said, I put an "8" in my purse when this thread first popped up, and was pleasantly surprised with a small assist in the midst of a financial crisis. Then I forgot all about it. I noticed this at the bottom of the page the other day, and thought about the 8 again. I thought, "Boy, any unforeseen cash coming in the next 2 months would sure be a help!" Within 2 days, several small, unexpected checks trickled in, and I deposited $475 into my checking account today.

I didn't actually write or carry the 8 again; just thought about it, and about "extra" help coming in.

104. After reading this thread
Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 02:13 AM by votesomemore
I tried it. "8" in numerology is business and financial success.

Taking into consideration the tips brought forward here, I put "8" on a business card. Well, I make my eights like little snowmen, and have for years. Reading the tip on the infinity angle, I wrote it that way on another piece of paper. I had the intention of securing a job by the end of last week. On Thursday I got a call to go do some work. It's a long story, but it seems to have turned out that the "job" I got is not going to pan out after all.

Still have the two eights in the wallet. Not going to give up on it.

Just wish people would be upfront and honest when dealing with people looking for real work.

Just remember, if it's not meant to be with one job it will be with another- Hopefully, sooner rather than later for you!

And, do keep those 8's around. I think they help!

107. This seems to have worked wonders for me!
I took some green tinted 100% cotton resume paper and cut it in the size of a dollar bill - then put a huge horizontal 8 on it and put it in my purse where I keep my money. I was for the most part unemployed and substitute teaching and completely broke and couldn't pay my rent.

Within a week or so I got a call about a job in Texas. I ended up getting the job for the most money I have ever made. All kinds of things went my way monetarily. Discounts on my hotel. Fees waved. Fewer taxes taken out of my check than I expected - not to mention making the most I've ever made. Suddenly - I went from being so broke it was incredible to having several thousand dollars in savings.

Now the bad news - my boss in Texas was a huge jerk - and after 6 weeks I quit. But - my energy has changed and I feel like I'll have another job in no time. When I checked out of my hotel I got a huge refund even though I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have. (And I told them I didn't think I should get a refund - but they insisted.)

I told a friend about this and he said the day after he did this he found a $20 bill laying on the ground.

This may be nothing more than superstition - but it doesn't cost anything to try and it did seem to work for me.

112. Energy Is The Key
and now that you know that and have changed it you are set for a wonderful life. A friend explained, that to her, astrology is all about energy, where it is and what type, then you use that knowledge to your advantage by either changing it as you have done or going with the flow and trusting it when the energies are positive.

123. Okay, so an eight has been sitting in my wallet for weeks now...
no discernable results yet. I'm actually trying to remember what I did right in my life in terms of mystical energy last summer, when things were really good money-wise. I seemed to attract windfall-style money gains allll over the place. The only thing I can come up with is the so-called Talisman of Solomon I was carrying around while registering voters and such. But so far as I can tell, that talisman isn't known for bringing money or prosperity into one's life.

Yeah, so, am I doing everything right--written on lucky paper, sent to me from a profoundly good man? With a "lucky" pen? In front of my chakra candles? Anything else anyone can suggest?

124. Yeah, after my initial burst of excitement with winning $80 on the lottery
nothing else dramatic happened, although shortly after that I did finally get hired for a part-time job after months of applying. But I have to acknowledge that as long as my husband stays employed, we are comfortable and have everything we need. And his job looks much safer now than it did a couple years ago (computers). So I have no reason to complain.

Lovely words actually. My own situation is improving month by month, so maybe the initial bursts are good carrots, helping us to get our heads in the right place. I do know I worry less.

No, I didn't win anything (it was Powerball). Still...that's better than I've done in the lottery in--ever.
