a very uplifting dream
Edited on Fri Apr-17-09 07:49 AM by Callie McAllie
My dream last night: I was driving with my husband on vacation someplace warmer. Maybe they said something about this on the radio, but I just had this feeling that everything was about to change.

That's when we came upon this big bridge, reminded me of a big bridge from an island in SC that we have visited, (up, up, down, down, concrete side walls, n girders or cables overhead, 4 lanes wide open, no traffic, designed to evacuate the island in case of hurricane).

It was night, and maybe we were in a convertible, because as we neared the top of the bridge, I could see all these constellations overhead. They were lined up, one above the next, straight ahead of us. "The stars are aligned," I said to him. It was breathtaking.

Just as we reached the apex of the bridge, I was filled with nervous anticipation and anxiety. In real life, I have a particularly sharp phobia about driving over bridges, so I'm always anxious at that point on a bridge, but in the dream it felt like whatever was on the other side would be beautiful and so worth the trip. I couldn't wait to see it.

I woke up just at that point.

I hope in reality we are at the top of the bridge and about to cross to the other side, don't you?

1. My bridge dream
My bridge dream was Tuesday or Wednesday night.
I was in van on a suspension bridge, similar to many here in the NYC area. Unlike you, I could not see the sky because of cables or other construciton overhead. We were coming up to the crest in the bridge, when I saw a middle aged man on a motorcycle speeding ahead; he was enjoying the sense of freedom that came with riding his motorcycle. Then his motorcycle soared into the sky, like popping a wheelie on a bicycle. He went up really high and I thought this is not going to end well. On his way up, he hit something and fell back to an outside lane on the bridge and some concrete fell splat on his back as he was lying there. I cringed at the sight. Our van kept going.

Like you, I think the bridge refers to a transitional phrase. You seem to be further along the path than I was. However, the death of the guy who was enjoying his freedom continues to bother me. I can't figure out its significance other than a warning about wanting to make the transtion too quickly.

2. Sounds like the death of a way of dealing with the transition.
The over macho, show-off approach of trying to be first and make the biggest noise is not the way to deal with the transition and I can see that now in my life, or I can see that in the failure of that philosophy or attitude in the world. The way I've taken may be slower but it is the safer, more protected, more inclusive way (the van).

3. Dreams trip me out. I don't know what to make of them...but your
take on your bridge dream very well could be prophetic.

4. That's a nice one
Great dream, Callie. And very clear symbolism--no need to puzzle over this one! :D--sounds like we're nearly there!
