we moved into a new place and the karma
is weird. I don't know if it's just me or what, but the feeling I get since I've been here is unsettling. Has this ever happened to anyone or am I just going nuts?

1. Maybe smudging the place?
Try opening all the windows and then walking the interior perimeter with some burning incense.

26. sure
and when you finish going through every room (be sure to work the corners) open the front door, stand back and let all that old crap fly out the door. A little singing and chanting about peace and harmony and releasing is always good too.

2. You are not going nuts
I've been to places where there were entities hanging out, and it is very cruddy feeling. I've been to places where crimes have been committed, and the feeling there is of fear--as if the location was re-enacting the trauma. Here's what I'd do if I were in your situation:

1. Shield yourself with white light at all times. If you have spiritual helpers or protectors, call on them to be around you.

2. Use a pendulum to help figure out where the unsettling feeling is coming from. Make sure you ask for answers coming from 100% Light--that way if there are entities they can't mess with the answers.

3. If the unsettling feeling is caused by entities, go get some shelf fungus from the side of a tree, asking permission and leaving a tobacco offering. Light a corner of the fungus and smudge the house. Native Americans call this fungus "tonk", and it has a bad smell that drives away dark entities, because they don't like it. When you are done, you may wish to place a few small pieces of tonk in the area where you felt the uneasiness the most. For example, I was called to take care of a negative presence in an office, and ascertained it was coming from the air ducts. I put a few pieces of tonk in the ducts after doing a whole office smudging, and it shifted the energy immediately.

4. If the pendulum shows that the unsettling feeling comes from a past trauma, you may have to set up a ceremony to reverse the energy. Rashad Feild does this in England by placing metal rods in the ground around places where there have been murders or rapes.

If you still have an unsettled feeling after doing these things, you may wish to call in someone to do a clearing of the negative energies. The Sufis have a ceremony for this, and I have performed it and know it works. I'm sure there is a shaman or Sufi or someone else near you who will manifest if you need this done.

12. You get any sort of weight on the end of a string or chain
You hold it between your thumb and index fingers (or add the middle finger). Ask it for a YES, and the pendulum will swing one way--ask for NO and it will do something different.

If you google "Letter to Robin" you'll find complete directions for setting up your pendulum so it works right.

3. I lived in an apartment like that once.
Although I was never afraid and my space was nice, I did have disturbing dreams about bikers in my living room fighting, until I got some answers.

The apartments were known as "The Purple Pit" during the 80's -(we lived there in the mid 90's) and evidently they had been painted purple and rented to gangs of bikers. The maintenance man had been there for years and recounted the history. There had been a gun battle in the apartment next to mine which moved to the one I lived in and out into the drive out front. A man was killed and the apartments were then sold and re-furbished.

It stunned both the maintenance man and me after I first asked him if there were ever bikers living there and he told me the history.

9. Are there neighbors that have lived there for a while?
I would start with them, then maybe a google search on the address. Also the library may be able to help find articles if there was ever a police report made regarding the people who have lived there in the past.

I find that sometimes if someone is really sad/depressed you can pick up on that in spaces where they have spent a lot of time too. Residual energy can stay around for a while, here is a link to a website which discusses it.
http://thespiritguide.wordpress.com/2008/04/24/residual-energy-part-one/

here is an excerpt:
I believe that some traumatic events in particular, like violence or fear, can leave lasting in impressions in not only people, but their surroundings. Depression, anxiety, hate and sorrow are such powerful emotions that they would surely affect even the least empathic of individuals.

Being an empath myself, I’m extremely sensitive to these impressions left behind in homes. I have difficulty living in homes where anyone has lived previously. I feel most comfortable in homes built from the ground up and I am the first owner, leaving all my own energy imprints. I have lived in homes where I’ve sensed certain impressions from the previous owners and then afterward have my suspicions confirmed by a neighbor who happen to know the previous tenants very well.

10. you know, that makes me think of something...
that brings a new element to this. My husband and his family went to the nursing home room where his grandmother lived and cleaned out all her belongings. Since we have the biggest garage now:eyes: all or most, of her stuff is here. Some of it like the mini-fridge and pictures we brought inside. The rest is in the garage for his mother to go through once she has had her surgery (radiation implants for breast cancer).
Since "gran's" stuff has been here, I can honestly say, the energy has shifted. His gran was quite feisty, but LOVED her grandson and I even joked to my husband that if there are any spirits here, gran will take care of them!:) Part of me was joking and the other part...well...

31. It is possible to ask any light beings such as guardian angels or = to take anyone or thing stuck...
to the place that serves their highest good. This includes reclaiming personal energy or soul fragments for anyone who left their heart in San Francisco so to speak. If you choose to do this remember to include the land as well as the home because energy and entities both can get stuck in the land rather than the home. Heaven only knows what kinds of things have happened on that bit of land since humans first set foot there and what imprints have been left behind.

ps you can call back any personal energy you yourself ever left behind after moving in a similar manner. I personally ask my guides to help call it back then wrap it up in a cocoon of light and love until the right time for me to reintegrate those lost bits and pieces.

4. I would smudge the place
if it's your own house, smudge outside as well, along the property lines. That's a lesson I learned the hard way when I came here. The house was fine, but there was a lot of angry, malevalent energy outside, in the back pasture in particular. When working back there, the piston fell through the cab of a brand new dump truck. While I was smudging, I could hear a bunch of men laughing and saying things like, "We'll cut her down to size!" I could feel their anger. And the bowl of smudge literally burst into flames.

7. oh wow
well, the first night I stayed here, I was washing my hair and water got in my ear, needless to say, I ended up in the emergency room the next morning having an ear irrigated and I've never had that happen before. Also, I almost slipped and fell in the shower. The following week, I ended up with the flu and was sick in bed for over four days and now I have an allergy infection. My husband's mother found out she has breast cancer and his grandmother died three days later (this past Friday)...so...either we are just on a streak of terrible luck, or a dark cloud has descended on us.

Either way, I feel a constant strain on me when I'm in this place...I hate living here.

8. that's too much bad luck at once, even for coincidence.
even if it's just a ceremony to realign your thoughts (most secular interpretation i can compromise to for those who choose to not believe), it's best to act now in this situation. fascinatingly there seems to be a target upon him and women he cares about... i would not be tentative with this one. full bore protection and abjuration -- the more, the better. and if that doesn't settle it, be not afraid to move.

11. I believe you are exactly right
the old world IS GONE
the new one emerged 1/25/08 and got a great big boost in 2/08
then it got confusing with many people getting dizzy last summer
now, those holding on to the old are getting bruised kneecaps from being dragged across the gravel.
stand up, be happy, it IS here, especially on 5/25, and rejoice
new enlightenment is here
don't listen to the fear-mongers on FOX who say the world is going to hell
More properly said, THEIR old crappy, corrupt world IS dead.

good luck BR

14. Happens all the time
The latest was last week, on vacation in Florida. Even though we had been traveling half the day and night and didn't get to bed till midnight (MG Jr. included), we didn't sleep soundly--and the beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet. But Mr. MG was snoring loudly, MG Jr. was flip-flopping all over the place, and I kept dozing off and waking up. Around 2 a.m. I had the urge to get up and wander around the rooms (it was one of those hotel rooms with a little sitting room up front with a fold-out bed, mini-fridge, and extra TV for more family members). I forced myself to get back in bed even though I was restless, but I still couldn't sleep. Then it occurred to me that I might want to clean out the old energies the previous vacationers had left behind. After I did that, Mr. MG stopped snoring, Jr. stopped flopping around, and I conked out. I strongly recommend giving your new place a good cleaning--could be grandma's energy or could be the previous residents' energy--either way, you won't feel better till you do.

18. Also to add: my cats have been freaking out since we first moved in too
Edited on Fri Apr-24-09 09:52 AM by Blue_Roses
they just can't seem to get settled. Max, my youngest, always slept with me at night. Now, he wanders all night. He also walks a few steps in front of me when I'm coming down the stairs and will stop and look back to see if I'm coming. I stopped halfway down the stairs to see what he would do and he too, stopped and sat on a step until I continued going down the stairs. I thought it was just because he wanted to be fed, but they had already just been fed. Wow, this is really weird now that I'm thinking about it more. Oh, and another thing...last night, I went to close my folding closet doors and I shut the door on Max's head. I had NO idea he was even in the closet (they love going in this closet for some reason) but needless to say, I screamed and he ran. He was alright, but it shook he and I both up quite a bit.

Gretchen, my only female is especially sensitive and will not leave my side. She is really acting weird. I even tripped over our oldest cat, Merlin, cause he was right next to me and I didn't see him.

I told my husband this morning that I am counting down the 12 months on this lease till we move and I'm getting the hell out of here. He even said there is a weird aura in the upstairs bathroom and bedrooms.

Why oh, why did I move in here :banghead:

19. It could be those boxes
of your grandmother's in the garage. The roommate I had for a year had boxes in my garage that had been packed for about 13 years, he said. I could "feel" the density. I had asked him to go through them, and he started, found some things he was glad to find, and then gave up. I really think if he had taken it seriously, I wouldn't have had to ask him to leave.

Cardboard has a very heavy energy load. Do you still have a lot of boxes to unpack? When I repacked stuff that had been boxed for about three years, I had to take a lot of breaks and go outside to breathe. Clapping or ringing a brass bell helps too. I found out salt water leaves a very sticky residue on everything, so don't recommend that. Last summer when I moved, even though everything had only been packed a month before, the new place felt tight and stuffy until I got things unpacked. It's the cardboard.

24. Why Syzygy, I think you're right about boxes, bells, salt.
Blue_Roses, My family moved a lot and my parents always had a priest in the new parish come and bless every single room in a ritual of incense and bell ringing, followed by a shaman. Then every single box had to be immediately unpacked and things put away because my mom said earthbound spirits love clutter and boxes are great hiding places. Then she would put small bowls of salt water in corners of rooms she thought needed it. Whew! What a ritual.

My husband and I just burn the sage moving from room to room with love and peace in our hearts before and after moving in, and periodically during the year. I also recommend White Light Meditation that's really powerful for protecting oneself and also the poor cats.

20. when i was learning to cleanse houses..
I too used the pendulum and sage smudges. These help a lot. I would also recommend placing crystals around as well. It's always important to open windows, cleanse, and surround in white light.

The other posts are right. Houses, apartments, really any room, will bear the imprint of those persons who lived there. The builders, who worked on the site will carry their energy into the area, the previous owners, occupants, etc.. all leave their mark. So many overlook that very fact. Our feelings, hopes, dreams, intentions, both good and bad, become part of the environment around us. Houses absorb those energies. When I used to 'cleanse' houses I would ask if it was a spirit or a spiritual imprint.

When my brother purchased his house he felt uneasy in it and I told him that I felt that a lot of physical and mental abuse seemed to be imprinted in the place. We smudged the area, washed down all the walls and tossed out the dirty water far from the house, and the feeling went away.

For those naysayers who do like to lurk here- sometimes the very act of cleaning, smudging, etc, works wonders.

this is great info. When you say put crystals around, could you give me an example of what would be good to use. Sorry for the ignorance on this.

Also, how do I smudge with sage? I was telling my husband about smudging after I read the previous posts and he said he was familiar with it. He loves to watch that ghost show where they go in and do this. Call me surprised, but I guess I under-estimated him.

30. Crystals need not be gem quality. I love my jet and black tourmaline
they suck bad vibes right out! Amber is protective but not so good, at least for me, at drawing out the bad vibes. Now the things with crystals is that what suits me best may not work the very best for you as well. If you own any go though them holding one at a time asking which of you will draw out bad vibes, which protect, which bring in good vibes, or which will assist with whatever the issue at hand is. Do the same when choosing crystals at a store or just hold your hand above and choose the one that draws you like a magnet.

Smudging with sticks of incense or smudge is simple. Just wave it around your home holding a plate or pan underneath to catch the ash. Usually I start by the front door and go around the permiiter of the room. Sometimes I sketch infinity symbols (figure 8s) or reiki symbols with the sticks of inscene or smudge. Focus on areas that seem dimmer, danker or otherwise squick you, your family or pets out the most. It is nice to play music or sing or chant when doing this. choose something you find spirtually uplifting or even just very happy wehter it is Age of Aquarius or a religious hymn. Invite the help and blessings of any Higher Power(s) of your families' choice in this if you like. I dedicated my home to Divine Light & Love and believe this has made a difference in the vibes here since.

Clapping and even banging pots and pans can help dispell bad vibes as well. Think of the new years tradition of running around the house clanging pot lids together or the more genteel noisemakers at parties.

29. All of the above, plus:
Edited on Sat Apr-25-09 08:42 PM by juno jones
Repainting

Garlic cloves on overhead door lintels, garlic/hotsauce sprinkled around perimeter of yard

One teacher I had would hang a bundle of locust thorns in a corner of the room, he would claim it dispelled negative entities and energy.

Most of these things, along with many of the technques above have worked for me over the years. I also employ a magical banishing rite, but White Light meditation would probably be as effective.

And yeah, going thru the boxes quickly would probably be a relief on many levels.
