D&D blamed for murder
A South Jersey man is being jailed without bail in Montgomery County, Pa. on charges that he stabbed three people to death last Friday in King of Prussia.

In addition to facing first-degree murder charges in the stabbing deaths of Lisa Greaves, her sister Heather, and Heather’s three-year-old daughter, district attorney Bruce Castor says John Eichinger will also be charged with the 1999 murder of Jennifer Still of Bridgeport (Montgomery County), Pa.

Castor (below right) says the motive appears to be jealousy, but they are also looking into some sort of connection with the fantasy role-playing game ”Dungeons and Dragons”:

"I mean, you have many, many stab wounds and those 'Dungeons and Dragons' fantasy games involve swords and knives and daggers and things of that nature. There may be a connection but I can’t say for sure.”

Sure. King of Prussia, Kingwood Road and D&D, anybody would get murderous with that combination - we have our motive.

1. Wow, that's an old meme ...
I haven't seen that one since the 80's ... don't they know that it's video games that cause all the murders today? Sheesh ...

That has to be one of the dumbest quotes I have ever read in my life. I guess we can just chaulk all multiple stabbings up to D&D then. Next thing you know he'll be blaming NASCAR for multi-car accidents. What an idiot.

6. A thread like this deserves the obligatory...
Jack Chick link, this one being, of course, to Dark Dungeons - that ever-so-realistic portrayal of my gaming days... :eyes:

For those of you that remember the 2nd Ed./3rd Ed. schism, there's always the alternate link that you might find amusing (warning - it's a tripod site).

7. Did we just fall into a time machine back to the '80s?
See, this is what happens when we let 7th_Sephiroth drive the Gaming Group's DeLorean.

Anyway, I always thought it was pretty funny that it was always D&D players who were assumed to use the game as a murder motive. After 11 years or so of DMing off and on it's a wonder I haven't upped and murdered my entire group.

No, you can't have a Holy Avenger +10/+500 vs. the Tarrasque. You're a level three halfling thief. Take this sling and suck it up, bitch.

I'm a bitter, bitter woman. :P

That way we would have avoided the speeding ticket.
