1. I would suggest you find a different game
The whole point of Brothers in Arms is that it is a squad based game, and that you have to look out for your men and use them - therefore, you can't play it like you are the lone hero. Try one of the other FPS WWII titles like Call of Duty or Medal of Honor for the type of action you are looking for. I actually have a hard time with BIA titles because I get caught up in the story line and attached to the guys in my squad, and everytime one dies in the course of gameplay, I have to restart the level because I don't want him to get killed. Plus, I got totally stuck on the first 88 you have to take out in Hell's Highway.

I'm trying to beat Call of Duty 2 on Veteran level - very hard! I'm at the point where you have to take out the tank at the factory, and holy crap, it's almost impossible.

3. A good mod for COD 2
*Realistic AI Aiming. No more of watching NPCs take pot shots at each other to no effect. Now the AI is as effective in combat
as you are. Now cover is your saving grace, you can't lone wolf it most of the time and you must rely on your
comrades for fire direction, cover fire, ammo, or at the worst moments...meatsheild

Much more to the mod and I highly recommend it!

2. Long time since playing
but if I remember correctly you can send the squad to a safe and cozy location and tell 'em to defend or some such. Lone wolf till you eliminate the enemy then recall the squad.
Did you know that the BIA series also installs a nasty piece of work called "StarForce"?
Just FYI: http://www.onlinesecurity-on.com/protect.phtml?c=55
Good luck and have fun!
