Might & Magic 6 Pack - PC
Edited on Fri Sep-04-09 07:01 AM by Ohio Joe
Sweet! The first six games in the M&M series for XP and Vista only $9.99. I used to have all of these and tried to re-play them oh... 2 years or so ago. I got the first one to install fine but could not get it to run right... ehhh, probably should have tried DOSBox. Anyway, if you have never played these, it is an awesome value, craploads of great turn based RPG goodness :D

Edit - Might help if I actualy gave the link, heh

1. Ugh...so dated.
Pass. I played a few for old time's sake. Some games age well. M&M did not.

Heroes of M&M did somewhat.

2. Dude! No more need to run them in DoxBox or with a no-CD crack? Freaking SWEET!!!
Between this, and Raiden Fighters Aces this month followed by Raiden IV next month for the XBox 360, I'm going straight gaming crazy lately! :D

4. I lost a lot of time to M&M ...

... the original anyway. I never really got in to the sequels, probably because I was so burnt out on it.

As I was nearing the end of playing through the game once, I remember I got a dropped item in one of the rare black chests that was just totally awesome. I got to use it in one battle, which irritated me, and then I got to wondering how many more items there were like this that I had missed. I was also very annoyed by the final puzzle's password since by then I hadn't faithfully been keeping a map of that area, and you *needed* the map to see the password spelled out. I eventually figured this out by looking at what I had done, but I had to go back through the whole damn thing to get it right.

This started a spark of misguided inspiration that led to a friend and I hacking at the game for about a month to figure out all the secrets we may have missed. It was actually somewhat satisfying since it was the first game I really hacked like that, but I started regretting it later when another acquaintance with no gaming skill at all (but able to use a hex editor if given instructions) kept calling me in the middle of the night asking for help.

Anyways, there are some fond memories. I wonder how much of it I still have memorized. I lost count of the number of times I played through sections repeatedly during the tearing it apart and figuring things out phase, so a lot of it got burned in there.

I may have to get that and check it out.
