Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
Did anyone get this yet?

I'm a huge fan of RCT 1 and 2. How is this one different?

2. Gamespy gave it a middlin' review
Go to www.gamespy.com and click on the PC section, the review should still be on the front page there.

According to Gamespy, the 3-D was verrrrry nice, both for eye candy and for placement of items. The visitors are all individualized now, with different types that favor different things. There's also an auto-complete function for rides that can finish if you're having problems or are tired of working on one.

Unfortunately, the game is very buggy. There was a patch released already that handles some of them, but there are still quite a few. I would wait to buy the game for a month or two and see if the developer irons out the rest of the problems.

3. Thanks AZ
Sadly,I've learned to always wait a month or so for PC games. The developers see us as futher beta testing :)

On the plus side, the game itself sounds pretty good.

4. It's an awsome game
The play is a bit different because you need to micro-manage the shops and the staff. You have so much more control over every aspect now. The themed rides are gone, but you can theme them yourself. I just find the 3D graphics so much nicer. You also can ride the rides, and there is a cheat for the peep cam- this allows you to walk around as a guest. I have a year old computer which handles the game fine. There are some bugs and issues, but the patch to adress these is due out this week. This game far surpasses 1 and 2. I play for hours, and have imported all my own music for the rides..you can really get up close and personal with this version.

6. Oh yes
just convert the wave file to a wma and pop it into your my music folder which has a special folder for RCT3. In the game options just check that box that asks if you want to allow it.

8. IT SUCKS RAW ROTTEN EGGS
I had great hopes for this game. The graphics are largely better -- when they work, at least. (I am above min requirements and updated drivers on everything, and get random crap all over the screen when scrolling.

My coasters (part of one, all of one or every coaster in the game)disappear randonmly. Once all of the rides disappeared.

The same obnoxious interface that made RCT2 so miserable has barely changed -- if at all.

Buggy, obnoxious, and completely disappointing.

It is neat to ride coasters and rides via graphics, but it is so undamn-playable it isn't worth it.

I spent about 6 hours making a small park (with enough cash to build a huge one)

64 MB GeForce 4 (X8 DDR)
512 MB
2.4 P IV w/800Mhz FSB

I was really expecting a lot and looking forward to this, but it was a pure waste of money.

10. That's odd
I haven't had any real bug issues, but I'm using an athalon and a geforce fx 5200 128mb card. Plays like a dream on my system, and that's with graphics maxed. I had a bit of a graphics hang up until I installed the latest nvidia drivers, but that cleared it right up. Also, the official patch is out and fixed most of the problems others were having. Here is the site:

12. I ended up correcting some of my issues
I cranked every graphics setting to max, but went to 16 bit color.

I still have some issues, but the graphics situation has improved a bit.

I truly amazed they didn't make the interface better, there are simple things that should have been done in RCT2, but they still haven't managed to do anything about it yet in RCT3. Placing paths, flower beds, chairs, lamps, etc. is as nighmarish as ever.

There are common sense things, that are simply overlooked every version they make.

I am shocked that the log flume (splash mine) that comes with the game can only have three logs for riders. (I think it could have 23 in RCT2).

13. Well I certainly agree
about path placement and lack of themed rides, but I'm still loving this game. Atari will never listen to what the fans want though, and they have become increasingly intrusive within the computer settings. I don't like the fact that I have to disable my emulation software to play this game, as well as EA games. This copy protection crap is what is causing all the damn glitches in the games. I've heard nightmare stories about Immortal Cities:Children of the Nile game, and it's all because of securom..I dislike those bastards immensly. Most games are going down this road now, so I'm picking carefully these days and going for long term replay.

9. Try the demo
http://www.atari.com/us/games/rollercoaster_tycoon_3/pc

On the right hand side.

There's a small scenario and a fairly extensive tutorial. The interface is almost completely different from RCT 1 & 2, it's taken me some getting used to. I don't have the full game yet, I'm expecting Santa to bring it.

Probably the last one-man development team in Computer Games.
