LAWTON, Okla. — Lawton police are investigating a shooting outside a west-side nightclub that left a Fort Sill soldier dead.

Police say 27-year-old Pvt. Ira Easterling was shot and killed late Monday night. A police report indicates Easterling died at a Lawton hospital where he was taken after the shooting.

Police Captain Will Hines says investigators have developed a suspect in the case but no arrests have been made.

Hines says Easterling was involved in some kind of disagreement before the shooting.

A Fort Sill spokeswoman says Easterling was scheduled to be discharged from the Army soon and return to his family’s home in South Carolina.
