Recruiter Accused of Sex with Minor
Recruiter Accused of Sex with Minor
August 21, 2008
Sacramento Bee

A Marine Corps recruiter was arrested Aug. 20 on suspicion of having sex with a minor he met at a job fair, according to authorities.

Sgt. Victor Sanchez-Millan, 23, of Stockton faces charges of unlawful sex with a minor and unlawful communication with a minor, according to police and Marine Corps officials. Sanchez-Millan had been assigned to a recruiting station in Roseville.

Lincoln police arrested Sanchez-Millan on Wednesday at a recruiting station in Sacramento County and later booked him into Placer County jail, said Lt. Paul Shelgren.

The arrest came after officials began investigating what the father of the alleged victim, a 17-year-old girl, said has been "a nightmare" for a family with a strong military tradition.

As civilian law enforcement officers continue their investigation, Marine Corps officials said they were conducting their own review to determine if Sanchez-Millan violated the Uniform Code of Military Justice, Marine spokesman Gunnery Sgt. J.D. Cress said.
