HONOLULU — The federal government is being sued by the mother of a 5-year-old girl who was fatally beaten in military housing at Wheeler Army Airfield on Oahu.

Tarshia Williams claims in her lawsuit that the government failed to report suspicions of abuse in the months leading up to the death of Talia Williams in July 2005.

Talia’s father, Schofield Barracks Spc. Naeem Williams, is facing a murder charge and possible death penalty in the case. His wife, Delilah Williams has pleaded guilty to murder under an agreement that calls for her to testify against him.

Mark Davis is an attorney representing Tarshia Williams. He says Naeem Williams moved Talia to Oahu after gaining custody of the girl in late 2004.
