The Army continues to offer special bonuses to soldiers in over-strength military occupational specialties who transfer to recruiting or intelligence collection duties.

The bonuses of $2,000 and $4,000 are offered under the MOS Bonus Conversion Program, a targeted incentive system that the Army launched in April.

The bonuses are designed to attract soldiers of the regular Army into priority specialties that have manning requirements for mid-ranks NCOs.

A soldier who volunteers for the program must be a staff sergeant with less than 10 years of service, or a sergeant and below, regardless of years of service.

Additionally, applicants must meet qualifications for the requested MOS, and agree to serve in the specialty for at least three years.

Lump-sum bonuses will be paid upon successful completion of transition training, and the removal of additional skill identifier “4A” (reclassification training) from their personnel file.
