please critique my 116th ltte-re:homeless vets,et al
On this Thanksgiving holiday,we often reflect on what we are grateful for.I am grateful for my beautiful children,my job,and to have a roof over my head.As I reflect,I am bothered by a large segment of the population who do not have this.
The most recent figures from the Veterans' Administration reveal 25 percent of homeless in America are veterans. This alone is a tragedy, but consider an even larger problem.According to recent studies,125 veterans commit suicide on any given week. This number is twice the national average as a whole. When you narrow it to Iraq War veterans,it becomes three times the national average.
There is an ENORMOUS need for Veterans' Assistance Centers throughout Texas.Right now,the only centers are in Dallas,Ft Worth,San Antonio,Houston, and El Paso. This leaves a huge portion of the Veteran population underserved. As a member of the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans,I have been lobbying to have a Veterans' Service Center in all cities with a recruitment office. These centers would have a Veteran counselor to deal with the psychological and transitional issues that our military face when they assume a veteran role. The centers would also have a Nurse practitioner or Physician assistant with prescriptive authority to hopefully reduce some of the congestion at the Medical Centers and encourage medication compliance. One month of the War in Iraq would fund these centers nationwide for a year. Are our veterans worth any less?
Hug your family, and be grateful for your blessings.Tomorrow, write your representatives and demand they care for all our veterans.

1. Spaces between your sentences would make this readable.
You have wonderful posts but I usually don't read them because of your unconventional & grammatically incorrect format.

2. Good LTTE.
I sent this off last week to local rag & it disappeared into the ethos. . . . (The rag had a 200 word limit on LTTEs.) You're welcome to use this also if you wish.

Does Bush support our troops?

For this discussion. I’ll skip Abu Gharib, Guantanamo, Walter Reed, the Military Commissions Act of 2006, stop loss, and a $9,100,000,000,000+ national debt.

The Veterans Administration is woefully under funded and cannot meet the demands placed upon it..

Veterans represent 25% of the homeless population, yet are only 11% of the adult population of this country.

Veterans are experiencing problems with jobs when they return from overseas rotations. One United States senator called the procedures for veterans seeking help a confusing “Walter Reed-like nightmare.”

PTSD and TBI injuries are becoming epidemic.

The Veterans Administration reports that over 5,000 Veterans commit suicide each and every year. CBS reports: "Many believe, including the family members, that they (the VA) hasn't done a true nationwide count of the numbers (which are stunning) because they just don't want to know."

Depleted uranium poisoning is going to dwarf Agent Orange in terms of scope and toxicity..

For the life of me, I cannot understand how we can spend $330,000,000 on one F-22 fighter and ignore those who answered the call of duty.

So back to my original question: Does Bush support out troops? My answer: No.

but you seem to have unnecessary commas.

example: Hug your family, and be grateful for your blessings.

is just: Hug your family and be grateful for your blessings.

and This alone is a tragedy, but consider an even larger problem.

but the message is excellent. Very good.

4. I have a problem with punctuation. Thanks for your input!
that's why I always put my letters out there before I send them.I find grammatical errors and poor facts take away from the message.
