He's playing exerpts from Al's January 2005 speech and I'm getting chills just listening to it.
Thom will be taking calls in a few minutes about Gore.
He thinks Al should approach one of the current candidates and form a ticket now and jump in as a full ticket from the get-go. Duh! Haven't a lot of us been saying that for ages already?
10. The money statement: "I'm going to figure out how best to use this"
or something very similar when he was talking about the prize. I liked the phrasing. No Sherman Statement and no "I'm thinking about it" or "I'm in."
I know it doesn't seem like it but it is still too early after the prize to say anything about the presidential race. The drum beat among the larger public is just catching fire. People are starting to pay attention to politics and today they are asking themselves "Why not Gore?" Let that sink in over the weekend while the others snipe amongst themselves.
I knew he wouldn't announce today and tie the two together. No way.
Hartmann expanded on the idea of picking a VP from the current pack and announcing as a team. He said he should put the major players from the current pack together as part of his cabinet and announce the whole package. Brilliant idea, but it will never happen.
11. Starting now, the other candidates HAVE to say nice things about Gore

Imagine being in their shoes. Here comes the 800 lb gorilla, your biggest nightmare and you have to say nice things about him starting today (because everyone is going to be asking about it) and for the foreseeable future.
13. And Edwards was the first one out of the gate...
...I think he sees the writing on the wall and is perhaps positioning himself for at best, selection as VP, or at worst, a recommendation from Gore should he not run.
