Pagans in Politics
I received this e-mail from a friend. Does anyone here know of any openly Pagan politicians? Our Bud Clark was (as my dad said) quite the character on so many levels that I would think there are more and better examples out there, the key word being "out."

"With all of the attention being paid to Christine O'Donnell regarding her "I'm not a witch" comments -- and infamously confusing/combining Wicca with Satanism -- I've gotten to wondering about actual Pagans in politics.

"I know that Portland Mayor Bud Clark referred to himself as a "born again Pagan" when he was running against Frank Ivancie for that office, but on a local or national level I'm ignorant of any other Pagans (of any stripe) holding political office currently or in the past.

"And, of course, I think there might be an enlightening news story in there, depending on what I dig up....

"Do you know of any Pagans holding (or running for) political office at any level of the game -- i.e., from city council or town dog catcher all the way up to U.S. Congress or the White House? I think I know an editor or two who might be interested in such a story, plus this could be a good antidote/reality check to the Christine O'Donnell coverage.

"Thanks for your help!"
