Children in a Louisiana public school were forced into public prayers and bible lessons:
From the article:
The 20-page memorandum supporting the motion lists 12 instances of Sullivan conducting unlawful activities.
It states Sullivan had been participating and sometimes leading her elementary school students in silent and verbal prayers, selecting who would recite them, forcing the student teacher to do likewise and conducting Bible class in the school's cafeteria just prior to the start of the school day. The instances, which date between Jan. 18 until April 15, included the following:
Feb. 3: Sullivan told students she was disappointed by their being absent from Bible study class. The student teacher asked her about the lawfulness of a teacher conducting Bible studies on school grounds.
Feb. 21: Sullivan told the student teacher to select a student to lead in reciting prayer just prior to lunchtime. The student teacher went to her supervisor at Southeastern Louisiana University two days later to talk about Sullivan, but the supervisor grabbed her hand and began praying for her.http://www.hammondstar.com/articles/2005/05/19/communit... And then the christo-facists wonder why people fight so hard for this sort of thing to be banned from public schools!
