So, should we actually discuss the first episode of Survivor?
I loved it. No lame ceremonies, no nonsense, get right to the game.

Brutal way to pick tribes, although I like the "chain leader" way of doing it better than having just one person pick.

Thank goodness Wanda's gone!

1. Wanda probably would
have been picked over Angie (tattooed gal) if she had just kept her big mouth shut...that awful singing. x( Anyway I like the gal with the tats so I'm glad she got picked.

4. It's on tonight again? Really?

I missed it Thursday too and was really bummed
about it.

Cool.

3. One would think
that by now contestants would know to be a team player and unobtrusive intially. It amazes me how people draw so much attention to themselves, making them targets (Jolanda).

I thought it was a good first episode. What do ya'll think of that fireman? He strikes me as a repug.

5. He may be
But he's a hell of a player.

He was smart enough to avoid the fire-making duty (he's right, it's a losing proposition), his alliances he established early were tentative, and open to shifting depending on where the game went, and he ran the heck out of that obstacle course. I've had to seriously raise my estimation of his skillz.

6. Tom the Fireman will go all the way
to the Finals.......He has a commanding calmness that the others need.

9. Yep! Learn to keep your big trap shut
until somebody puts you in charge. She had "goner" on her head the minute she started bossing people around.

I can't say I blame her for the fact that they didn't leave the supply area sooner during the challenge. I mean, once they saw the other team take off, they should have made a quick decision to move.

8. As a total klutz who always got picked last for
PE teams in school, the way the picked the tribes
was seriously painful for me.

I'll bet Angie stays ticked off at that guy who
didn't pick her for as long as she's in the game.
I don't know why they pick people with no people
skills to play. Misfits like that don't last very
long.

:eyes:

Overall a pretty good beginning, though. And I
have to agree with Piperay's assessment of Tom.
I'm just glad she said it first, not me.

10. I thought that was terrible!
I don't like the fact that those two players didn't have any control over whether they stayed in the game or not. At least there should have been some sort of challenge, some fighting to chance to stay in.

11. The producers have to mix it up, figure out new ways
picking the tribes, et cetera. They can't let
people think they'll know what to expect.

It was kind of sadistic, and they milked the segment
for all the pain they could.

14. It was cruel
it gave me horrible flashbacks of when I was in school and I was always the last one picked (cause I sucked at physical stuff). :scared: :puke: x(

15. They did have some control
As much as anyone else.

Wanda "voted" herself off the island the minute she stood up in the boat and started singing.

Jonathan signed his warrant by: Diving in the water first; not making friends/allies with anyone the first 24 hours; whining that he hadn't been picked early.

One final mistake he made: no eye contact during the selection process. He spent most of the time that I saw, especially later, staring off at the ocean. This sent the subconcious signal that he wanted to leave.

Look the person in the eye if you want to be chosen. That's important.

So both Wanda and Jonathan were "booted" for very good reasons.

Oh, and there was some sort of challenge. Notice that two people did win immunity going in. There was a fighting chance.

12. I hate first episodes of Survivor
You barely get to know the faces and personalities and then bam someone's gone. The first 2 off was rather brutal, but I'm glad they got rid of Jolanda.

13. I thought that was the best first Survivor ever
I think that two of the three who got kicked off deserved it the most. I don't know what Jonathan did to merit being kicked off. Most of the people I liked ended up on the same tribe, and they kicked butt. The next thing I want to see is Angie getting her revenge on the backstabbing bitch hairstylist.

16. "Backstabbing bitch hairstylist."

I like that. That's exactly how I felt about him
when he didn't pick Angie. You could see her whole
body just deflate.

I really felt for her being backstabbed like that then ending up last. I remember the feeling myself from gym class. :-(

21. Oh, gawd, wasn't that just horrible?
I couldn't run, couldn't catch, couldn't throw.
PE was torture every day.

I felt for her too. Poor thing. And I have
somebody to "hate" -- so early, too. Hee hee.

17. I read an interview with Wanda
and she said that seven of the original twenty chosen were pulled and replaced with people who had modeling backgrounds (better eye candy). Sour grapes perhaps?

22. Second Episode
Well, I guess Ashlee did deserve to go...she was the one who voted for Jeff. Very Dumb move.
( unless it wasn't going to be a tie. I didn't see the other votes at the end of the show)
