used his email list to both solicit money for internet ads against drilling in ANWR and for people to lobby their Senators. The words in the record don't adequately convey Stevens outrage with Kerry.
He actually put Kerry's email in the Senate record, saying the following: "I ask unanimous consent Senator Kerry 's flier be printed in the RECORD after my remarks, so people can see the depth to which people are going to accuse us of somehow doing something wrong." Earlier he read excerpts of it saying first - "There is no question there has been a lot said here that is misleading. I have in my hand something given to me before I came to the floor. It is from our colleague JOHN KERRY . He also said, "Look, Senator Kerry is sending out requests for them: Send money in now. You need money. You need money to fight this because this is going to be voted on tomorrow."
A part of me does feel sorry for him - even though he was a poster child for much that was wrong in the Senate. His age is such that he can't possibly ever redeem himself.
