endorsements for Sen Kerry from MetroWest Daily News
"Kerry has long been a leader on such issues as global warming, veterans affairs and small business development. He has been a strong voice for the environment, leading efforts in the Senate to protect the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge from oil exploration and to increase fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks.

Kerry's greatest area of expertise is foreign policy, where he has made important contributions for two decades. Despite his regrettable vote in favor of giving the Bush administration authority to go to war in Iraq, he has been a consistent critic of Bush's policies there and in other parts of the world. If the Democrats retake the White House, Kerry could be in line to chair the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He has also been mentioned as a possible secretary of state, a post he should accept if offered."

1. The Herald: Well, geez, I mean you know we love ya, right?
About those pesky Secretary of State rumors:

"I hope Kerry doesn’t heed any such siren call. Given Sen. Ted Kennedy’s illness, Massachusets needs another senator with seniority to provide continuity and pick up the load as Kennedy recuperates.

Kerry remains way ahead of Beatty in the polls and appears to be shedding that old JFK as in “Just For Kerry” label. He’s rented coordinated campaign headquarters for Democratic candidates for the Legislature. And in a campaign stop at a diner Saturday, he shook every hand in the house.

The fellow veterans - some from the Vietnam era, some from Iraq who stumped with Kerry Saturday - are devoted to him. When Bob Bolduc of Auburn was asked to help Kerry in the Iowa caucuses in ’04, Bolduc said, “I sold my house, put everything in storage and went around the country for John for a year.”

Army veteran Walter Gallagher quipped “I got kidnapped” by persuasive Kerry aides to help “put a veteran in the White House.”"

Seriously, The Herald goes mushy. What's next, cats living with dogs, Yankee and Red Sox fans getting chummy, Wall Street offering to tone down the end-of-the-year parties and bonuses? (Okay, that last one is a stretch.)

Anyway, this was a nice article.

2. Wow, this is an amazingly supportive endorsement
That uses the rumors of a potential offer to be Secretary of State as the positive it should be. They exist mostly because he is a top foreign policy Democrat. I also like the extreme weakness of the obligatory praise for Beatty - "spirited, if little known". I wonder how much time was spent to select "spirited" - a positive word that conveys no positives unless other words - which it wasn't.
