"Kerry to Address Inaugural Summit of One Young World"

Ah, to be young again. I would have loved to attend something like this.

U.S. Senator John Kerry is the latest addition to the list of distinguished politicians, scholars and business people who will address more than 1,000 young people from around the world at the One Young World Inaugural Summit in London beginning on Feb. 8.

The delegates, who will represent more than 100 countries and were selected for their exceptional leadership potential, will gather in London for the Opening Ceremony at London's historic Old Billingsgate

2. he just really seems in his element these days
even one of the more cynical globe columnists noted that JK is doing a top-notch job at SFRC

Nice to see him thriving. . . and ON HIS OWN TERMS.

5. This is happening this week
Found their website: http://www.oneyoungworld.com/press/releases/index.php?id=9

Welcoming Kerry’s involvement and noting his passionate actions for reform in a variety of areas, David Jones, One Young World co-founder and global CEO of Havas Worldwide, said: “Senator Kerry represents the finest of the American creed as well as respect for the world’s citizens. He embodies the best of his generation’s commitment and hasn’t lost his youthful ardor for a better planet and community.

“Senator Kerry is a change agent and an inspiration for young people, especially because this generation of young people is dramatically different than any generation that has gone before it; the digital revolution has given them unparalleled access to information and unprecedented power to effect major change. I’m extremely excited to see what resolutions they come up with and their subsequent impact in the world. If the world’s leaders can’t make the right decisions, maybe the world’s young people can help them.”

Also their YouTube channel:

Maybe we'll be able to catch JK's speech -- if you find anything, post here?

6. I love these comments
Especially,

“Senator Kerry represents the finest of the American creed as well as respect for the world’s citizens. He embodies the best of his generation’s commitment and hasn’t lost his youthful ardor for a better planet and community."

It really says a lot that this really is true after 3 decades in politics and a Presidential run - where it was anything but a fair race given the media. He still has that real idealism - and I assume part of the credit for that goes to Teresa.

8. That really is good
It is too bad that he couldn't stop by, it would have been fun for him and the young people. But votes are votes.

A shame (though of course totally understandable--there is so much going on in DC at the moment!) that he couldn't make it in person, but so considerate of him to send that video. Can't wait to see it! :)
