Yikes, and Brown voted YES (he is very afraid).

EDIT: I found my answer. (Wonder where he is).

Senator John Kerry, the Bay State’s Democratic Senator, was not present to vote because of a trip overseas for meetings as part of his duties as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He had conferred with party leaders who already knew Cordray’s nomination would go down to defeat.

3. I wonder if it is not Pakistan too - because if it were not a sensitive, critical hot spot,
his office would have said where he was. If it were open meetings - like the environmental conference in Durban, South Africa, they would have said it and google would likely find international articles. The only past time I can remember where he missed a considerable amount of time in the Senate was when he was in Pakistan on the Davis issue, but then we saw that in the Pakistani media. Wherever he is, I wish him well and success - as the world really needs it.

2. I was wondering, too
Richard Cordray is a good guy. It hit my local progressive discussion board right away that JK was not there for the vote. Since Cordray is our local guy, that really didn't go down well. :(
