Springsteen mentions JK
Not earthshaking, but a little Friday fun.

You're in Cleveland. Isn't that where you also did the last rally for John Kerry before the election?
Yes, you're right. I didn't even think about that. But it was quite a night.

Do you talk to Kerry at all now?
I've seen him since the election, but just briefly. was something I was glad I did, and I met a lot of interesting people. There was a lot of hope and idealism. And on the I got to play with all those great musicians -- with John Fogerty and Neil Young and Bright Eyes. It was just an amazing musical experience, but what can I say? I would have liked to see it go the other way. I had a couple of weeks where it was, ''Whoa, what happened?'' Then it's on down the road.

You said onstage recently that someone sent you a box of broken albums and a dead chicken as a protest after the election. Was that true?
Well, the dead chicken part I made up. (He laughs.) That was artistic license. The other parts were true, though. Yeah, I had some spirited responses that let me know that I was striking a chord -- and that's what I was out there for.

1. you have to wonder what type of music these people listen to
if they are angry at any musician who supported Kerry. i mean, that's A LOT of good music they are missing out on.

maybe Toby Keith and Hillary Duff is good enough for them.

6. You driving? Or flying?
I'm feeling like Proud Mom these days too - my oldest is doing so well. We just found out last weekend he's a semifinalist at the Montreux competition this summer.

8. we're driving
It's about four hours away. The grad school she's going to start at next fall, U of Minn., is six hours away! :( I think I'm gonna have to start flying next year-lol. It's a looong drive to Minneapolis/St. Paul. We used to drive it back in the old days when we lived there, and the rest of the family was still here in SE Wisconsin.

Congrats to you on your son. Is that musical? This same daughter of ours took piano for 10 years, through high school; I really miss hearing the practicing now.

9. Yeah,
jazz piano. I don't get to hear much practicing these days, since he lives in NYC, but he's played 4 concerts up here in the past month (yay!) and just recorded his first cd, so I've been hearing him a lot more than usual.

Six hours away isn't too bad, but it's a pretty long drive.
