About the different plans in Iraq - Four ideas emerge for ending war
I find this article is the best I have seen to explain what are the main ideas about Iraq. I do not agree with what the article says about what would happen in his case, the writer makes a much better case explaining what the options are and is not trying to put different options together or to oppose options that are basically the same (with nuances).

1. Good attempt to clarify options
The problem with lumping these:

This course appears most popular among those seeking a way out of Iraq, especially prominent Democratic senators who might seek the presidency in 2008. Their ranks include Sens. Russell Feingold of Wisconsin, Joseph Biden of Delaware, John Kerry of Massachusetts, Barack Obama of Illinois and former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina.

Is that Kerry's sector by sector approach isn't this:

Such an approach was tried in Vietnam, where it was called “Vietnamization.” It failed because the South Vietnamese government had limited public support, was riddled with corruption and fielded an army that was no match for communist North Vietnam’s. Congress cut off U.S. aid to South Vietnam in 1974, which some U.S. conservatives blame for contributing to South Vietnam’s fall in 1975.

2. This does start to lay out the plans well, but then simply
lists all the plans in the middle and has a blanket critisism of them. It reminds me of high school papers where the person starts very dilagently giving the two "extreme" positions and giving the pros, as stated by the proponents, and the cons as seen by critics.
But then as the due date nears, the author lumps all the rest with no details and lists a con that doesn't fit all the plans. As there are no pros or details for these plans, a reader is implicitly being told to reject them.

What's frustrating is that following the format of the first 2, this would be a really good article.
