1. Excellent!
I will write mine and put it up later on.

The Times is so obviously being feed crap from someone's office. Someone with an agenda that is very unfair and very anti-Kerry. We have to fight this.

3. I'm trying to compose a letter,
but there is not a single word in that piece that is unbiased and fair, and I'm having a lot of trouble being cool and rational. I just want to call them names.

4. I think we should call too.
I'm not near a phone or net for the next hour or so, but if people can post it (and in gd) then we could really make some noice. It's not just about JK it's about ANY democrat running! IT's a MORAL issue and about right and wrong!

15. I doubt it,
but these letters are a lot harder to write than it seems like they should be. I don't like mine much either. ;-)

9. here's my letter:
Is this journalism? Repeating gossip supposedly heard around the Capitol about what people supposedly think about John Kerry?
What was the point of that article other than to promote the idea that John Kerry is viewed as a pain by his fellow Senators. If you don't have a source willing to go on record, is this really a news article? I think it's nothing more than a hit piece.

Meanwhile, out here in the Heartland, "interviews suggest" that John Kerry remains a popular and potent force within the Democratic party. "Some say" he has raised tons of money and spent countless hours campaigning for other Democrats for the upcoming Mid-terms.

Please try and rediscover some balance in your writing!

10. Great letter, Ginny!!!!
Here's mine:

On Iraq, Kerry Again Leaves NY Times Fuming?

John Kerry has it right. The U.S. public is angry about the lies the administration has been feeding us for over three years now to justify their activities in Iraq.

When given the opportunity to help enlighten us as to the very real differences between Democrats and Republicans in this matter, why is the New York Times instead choosing to highlight disagreements among Democrats?

Why not talk instead about how Democrats all agree that there can be no permanent U.S. occupation? And how the administration refuses to say the same?

    Republicans: permanent occupation of Iraq
    Democrats: NO permanent occupation.

Sounds like a big difference to me. John Kerry has it right, no matter how loathe the Times is to admit that possibility.

19. I wasn't that thrilled with my letter,
but feel better about my blog post: http://toughenough.org/2006/06/re-swiftboating-of-john-kerry.html

the re-swiftboating of John Kerry

This is how it's done, folks. And ridiculously easy, when you have the corporate media right in your back pocket.

1. Marginalize the threat.

But interviews suggest a frustration with Mr. Kerry, never popular among the caucus, and still unpopular among many Democrats...

2. Whenever possible, make him look ridiculous.

Stepping into an elevator on Capitol Hill late last week, Mr. Kerry was asked whether he was under pressure in the Democrats' meetings to withdraw his proposal. As he insisted he was not, Senator Christopher J. Dodd, Democrat of Connecticut, standing behind him, raised his eyebrows, then winked.

3. Keep it vague.

...His critics say they believe the new stand reflects more politics than principle...
...The Democrats' exasperation has increased in the last week...
...Some Democrats felt Mr. Kerry allowed Republicans to embarrass them...

4. Innuendo based on unfounded speculation is good.

Privately, some of his Democratic peers complain that he is too focused on the next presidential campaign.

And there you have it. A smear wrapped in the veneer of journalism. The New York Times must be so proud.

20. And this as well:
(in the comments)

I was thinking of writing a new post on this later today, titled "At the Intersection of Freeperville and LeftyFreeperville."

I was horrified to hear what this "journalist" (Victoria Jones???) had to say when she called in to Tom Hartmann this morning, who was subbing for Rachel Maddow.

Right there on AAR airtime, she was repeating the Rove line. She actually said, "There are two big problems for the democrats: Karl Rove and John Kerry." He questioned her (weakly) on it, but good god.

21. Disgusting
John KErry is representing the mainstream of American thought in this debate. The Democrats should be celebrating that, not trying to kick him under the table.

When will they ever learn?

22. I do find it disheartening
that the senator who showed Kerry the most respect in this whole debate (Feingold Boxer and Leahy excluded) was John Warner.

I think the democrats out to be ashamed of themselves.

What pisses me off even more is that Levin and Reid sound just as angry as Kerry. So that means they're punishing him for disagreeing with them.

I hate politics.
