The Hobbit -Finally some news
Peter Jackson directing! (yay!) http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/entertainmentnewsbuzz/2010/10/the-hobbit-movies-ready-to-go-pending-labor-resolution.html

Filmed back-to-back in 3D (Not sure about this, but I will say that movies filmed in 3D, like Avatar, look much better than films shot in 2D and retrofitted for 3D )

And casting updates:
Martin Freeman hasn't been confirmed as Bilbo, but I suspect he'll make his schedule work for it.

Sylvester McCoy (Doctor Who) will be Radagast the Brown.

James Nesbitt is likely in the film and rumor has him playing Bofur.

1. Hooray for Radagast!
glad they're including the minor characters, too.
