Well, I was TRYING to take some contest photos today...
...but it seems I had some competition. You see, while I was trying to photograph the flowers, this guy was trying to eat them.

Here he is, finishing the last gulps of what might have been a contest-winning subject. :-(

As you can see, he seemed pretty fearless.

Oh, well. Can I vote for "Non-Companion Animals" as the topic for July's contest? ;-)

1. Hehehe, well he doesn't look underfed :)
It's times like that I wish I had a good optically stabilized zoom lens to catch the critters :)

5. Actually, I was wishing for something else to catch that critter...
;-)

For a few moments, I had an image of Elmer Fudd marching off, blunderbuss in hand, singing "Gonna hunt the wabbit, gonna hunt the wabbit..."

(No, I really wouldn't wish any harm on a rabbit. He had more right to get food than I had to get photos.)

2. See, you missed your chance to do something different
Take a pic of his spoor and enter it... that is flowers, after all!

4. There was a second rabbit, too...

...a little farther down the trail. That one, however, took off before I could get a picture. A suspicious lack of flowers in the immediate area, though.

At that moment, I began wondering which DU photographer had hired the International Brotherhood of Bunny Rabbits (a division of the Teamsters) to sabotage the competition. ;-)

6. My vampire squirrel will kick that bunny's tail in a heart-beat..

(Not the photo. My housing complex is over-run with black squirrels which appear to fear nothing.)

8. Next trip out Hwy20, stop at the "Bunny Motel" -
Clark's Skagit River Resort. http://www.northcascades.com/
About the bunnies in particular: http://www.northcascades.com/bunnies.htm

Dog thought she was having a vision of heaven, and fortunately the casual attitude of the bunnies did not trigger the strong chase reflex that would have broken the illusion.

Today, I'm taking pictures at a completely different location, a half-hour drive away from the first, and what do I get?

You guessed it. Another. Damn. Rabbit.

:banghead:

This time, I didn't even get a good rabbit photo out of the deal. I was about to, but some teenage future Republican decided to start a game of "Let's Catch the Bunny!" just as I was hitting the shutter, and Bugs hopped away at top speed. :grr:
