I finally got my Canon Xsi today!
with 2 lenses (skipped the kit lens); EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM and 100mm Macro f/2.8. I got UV filters and a hood for the macro that comes without, an extra battery and a 8G card. I took a few shots after the battery charged. Wow!

2. You and me both...
particularly about "beginning to understand". Hauling myself up the learning curve now.

3. You will love that 24-70 lens.
It's my favorite for landscapes. Does this camera show all the info on the back on the view screen? That's my very favorite feature on the 50D, and I think I read that this Xsi has that, also.

4. I love it already...
and I haven't even gotten it out of the house yet. I'm taking it for a stroll tomorrow. I wanted something similar to the range my P&S has so I would feel more comfortable with it. And, of course, it's a really good lens. It takes quite a decent close-up, too.
Yes, the Xsi has all the info on the view screen.

6. Congrats
I've got an XSi myself, except mine's labeled as a Kiss X2. It works great no matter what I'm taking pictures of, whether it's an event at church, a family get-together, or just out and around.
