:hi:

Between the weather(rain), school(busy) and playing catch up at work(due to the rain), my camera has been traveling back and forth with me, rarely taking off the lens cap.:(

I should be over a crest in school work soon, and be back to my preferred free time hobby of walking with my camera.

39. Mira, Where Did You Take That?
Exchange the nun habit(? abaya?) for a sari and it looks very Gauguinish.

41. This was taken in Egypt, in Sekem, a place near Cairo
http://www.earthfuture.com/economy/sekemegypt.asp

I could talk about that place until I am blue in the face, instead, every now and then, I show a photo of it.

3. I can see where this is going.
Every photo that gets posted, I think, "That's my favorite." Until the next one gets posted and I think "No, that's my favorite."

for screwing up even gambling, the sight of people doing productive work is very moving.

8. remember paintings in the 30s
By the WPA artists? They were often industrial looking, and work was celebrated. Of course they painted landscapes, etc. as well. But I love the look of the industrial paintings in the 1930s. That is one reason I thought that this would be a good theme.

The photo I submitted is too large, and I didn't notice it until the time window for editing posts closed. Sorry about that.

I have a resized version that follows the rules ... what should I do?

15. This was a great idea for a theme
The sheer variety and possibilities encompassed by the word "work" are overwhelming. I look at each of these entries and say "Wow!". Coming from a family of goldsmiths, I'm rather partial to Cassandra's submission but, sentimentality aside, I really don't know how to choose one of these pictures over another. I'm just blown away by it all.

19. The image needs to be resized
That may be the problem. Resize it to the specifications in the guidlelines. Make it 800 pixels on its longest side. See if that helps.

Something in Picasa's architecture, but this hasn't happened before. No idea what's up. I reposted and if it still doesn't show (it does for me, because it's in my cache) I'll try a different service.

See, what happened with me was that I clicked on your properties when it was still a red x, and then did copy and paste of that into my browser, and got to see the picture that way.

So, when I came back to the thread it showed up!! But that is because I went to the actual website.

So, I really wouldn't know if what you did makes a difference or not. Because, I have been able to see it ever since going to the site with my browser.

25. Mine Was Mr. Dinger Cutting Up A Dead Tree In Our Woods
It was a beautiful day. Not the best pic as far as quality, but my camera is not a fancy one. I titled it like I did because of the bumper sticker.

If we have the obstructionists continue with their atrophied or non-existing hearts, I might make some of those stickers for my friends and other interested parties.

That entry deserves to win. Hands down.

It kills me to see this small & jpegged. It should be printed big and hung in a gallery.

33. I hasten to add
inasmuch as I'm capable of hastening after a few benign intoxicants, there's some amazingly tough competition so far. I can easily pick 4 or 5 photos that I would applaud as the winner, but I stand by my own choice.

35. You are very kind
Actually this is printed large as part of a 3 photo series displayed in the corporate offices of the small drilling company who owns this derrick. I shot these for myself and just sent a set of 5x7s to the 2 guys working on the derrick. A week or so later the company president called and asked for large prints.

Here are the other 2.

Again, thank you Jeff for your kind comments.

36. You have a lot to be charitable about...Your photo rocks!
You got that in just under the wire, and even if it doesn't it is a total winner. It's like a painting.
Anyway, congratulations in advance :)
When I look at the entries in all their portrayals of hard work, I just get tired and want to rest.

49. Has this happened before? Pipoman comes in with a drop-dead gorgeous photo
and the only noise after that is chins hitting the deck, so to speak? Not an entry after that, and there is space now for a disguised jhain to submit the egg farmer, and she can't do it.
What's with that?

:sarcasm:

Good luck everyone.
On to another contest, and I have so much fun being part of it, and I don't take it for granted.
